Lindsay Lohan Gets Stella McCartney Anti-Fur Lecture

Written by Vegetarian Star on Monday, July 20th, 2009 in Actresses, Fashion, Fur.

Lindsay Lohan is so well known for the forest of critters that lie on her back, she’s even been nominated for the Worst Dressed Celebrity, based on the amount of cruel clothing she wears.

Now, she’s been chastised by vegetarian fashion designer Stella McCartney for her wardrobe choice.

Apparently, Stella thinks Lindsay’s been photographed in one animal coat too many.

A source says, “Lindsay wears a lot of Stella’s designs and she doesn’t want to be associated with a high-profile star who insists on wearing animal products.”

A spokeswoman for McCartney says, “She never uses fur and encourages everyone to opt for a vegetarian lifestyle.”

If you like the fur look, but not the killing involved, slip into something made by Donna Salyers’ Fabulous Furs, where every coat is made to look real, but is faker than the bosoms in Hollywood.

As for that Stella McCartney bag-it’s on sale at net-a-porter.com. Normally, $1,095, it’s now going for $525.60. Now that’s not entirely pocket change either, but hey, half off? Not bad!

Lisa Edelstein has told us all about her vegan shoe problem in the past.

Although she sometimes wears leather shoes, the House actress and vegetarian says she tries to support vegan companies whenever possible.

“There are some wonderful emerging companies that have great vegan shoes and bags and I try to support them as much as possible.”

Edelstein, along with other celebrities like Jimmy Fallon, Laura Wright, and John Henson share their secrets for being green on Mother Nature Network.

I’m the crazy person that for the last 20 years has brought my own bags to the grocery store,” Edelstein said. “I use environmentally friendly cleaning supplies in my house, I use biodegradable doggie bags and I drive a hybrid. I do what I can. If everybody does what they can it will make an enormous difference.”

If you’re looking for a vegan shoe, it might surprise you to know they’re not as scarce as some realize. Even shops like Target will usually have a few pairs containing completely man-made material.

Not only is this guy successful financially, he gives back, including feeding indigent people vegetarian meals.

“We give back to many different types of charities all over North America and Europe, from animal-rights to battered women’s shelters to feeding 400 homeless people a vegetarian meal twice a year in Montreal. An example of all this is a new brand we just launched, Samsara. One dollar for every bag sold goes to the charity of your choice. In three months since the launch, we’ve already committed more than $16,000!”

Victoria Beckham Slammed For Sporting Hermes Bags

Written by Vegetarian Star on Sunday, June 21st, 2009 in Fashion, Female Singers.

**RESTRICTIONS APPLY** Victoria Beckham arrives at Londons Heathrow airport carrying her favorite purple Hermes Kelly handbag

The former Posh Spice is known for her fashion statements, including her handbags, but one bag in particular is giving the folks of PETA the creeps.

Victoria Beckham has been spotted carrying a Hermes bag around town. Hermes is a company that uses crocodile skin in its products, and has recently started to breed its own crocs for the fashion line.

“We will send Victoria Beckham, a compassionate person who won’t wear fur, our undercover footage that shows how alligators and crocodiles are beaten to death and how snakes are nailed to trees and skinned alive for these products,” the animal rights group stated.

“The mere thought of purposefully breeding and killing crocodiles for an outdated, overpriced handbag should make any fashionista’s skin crawl.”

Vegetarian Victoria has made statements in the past, denouncing fur and claims the only fur products she wears are fake.
