Pamela Anderson Fragrance “Malibu” November 2009

Written by Vegetarian Star on Wednesday, October 14th, 2009 in Actresses, Cosmetics And Beauty Products.

Celebrities at the 6th Annual Hollywood Style Awards in Los Angeles, CA

Pamela Anderson‘s animal friendly fragrance, Malibu, is set to hit the shelves in stores November 2009.

Malibu will be available in CVS Pharmacy, Rite Aid, Walgreens, Sears and Overstock.com and will feature a holiday gift set option with body lotion, shower gel and a purse-friendly mini-bottle.

The 1.7 ounce will cost $39 and the 3.4 ounce spray will cost for $49.

Pamela spoke to the Sun-Sentinel from her home over the phone about the upcoming fragrance.

SS: Is it true that Malibu fragrance is just the start of your own skin care roll-out of products? Are you planning on taking over the beauty field?
PA: “It’s the first of many products – sun care, of course; bubbles, lotions, potions…and emotions…Not the entire beauty field – just the hot ones.”

SS: Describe your Malibu life that the fragrance evokes?
PA: “Beachy, just woke up, get your kids to school look and still get into trouble now and then. Hot for boyfriend.”

SS: You’re such an animal activist. Are you sure your new fragrance wasn’t tested on cute little bunnies or mice?
PA: “Hell no. Not even ugly bunnies or mice.”

2009 Heart Of Green Awards

So much chatter is going on about Alicia Silverstone‘s upcoming book, The Kind Diet, that some may have forgotten about another big project of hers debuting this year.

As we brought you the news earlier, Alicia has teamed up with EcoTools to create a line of eco-friendly cosmetic tools.

Besides being animal-free,  the materials are also made from recycled fibers.

Alicia took a moment to talk to Chloe Jo Berman of girliegirlarmy.com about animal and environmentally friendly cosmetics.

CHLOE JO: You are such a tireless activist for the animals and the environment, and a prime example of how living ethically makes you emanate glitter and beauty! We love that you totally get the power of offering luxurious and glamorous tools (whether it be food, fashion, or literature) to entice people into living a more cruelty-free and green lifestyle. What inspired you to make vegan brushes and make up bags specifically, rather than a shoe line or clothing line… or is that coming soon?

ALICIA SILVERSTONE: Regular make up brushes are often made with animal hair, and i promise the animals didn’t sit in a salon and get a little trim – you can be sure it was a painful horrid experience. Anywhoo, the other side of the coin is that synthetic brushes although way better option than animal hair, they are not awesome for the enviroment either, but still better. And actually the best option (if I do say so myself) is my eco tools, ’cause they are free of animal – but also using bamboo and recycled metal and the kindest synthetic hair for the planet possible to date that works great. So they are cruelty-free, but also the most enviromentally friendly option out there. And the bags are all made with hemp and veg inks and recylced plastics for the lining are as pretty and stylish as it gets, while still being green!

Alicia’s beauty tools hit Target and Wal-Mart this holiday season 2009.

Miranda Kerr “Kora” Organic Skincare: Is It Cruelty-Free?

Written by Vegetarian Star on Wednesday, October 7th, 2009 in Cosmetics And Beauty Products, Models.

Calvin Klein Collection After Party

Miranda Kerr has launched a line of 100% organic skin care products.

The range, Kora, is named after a type of meditation in the Tibetan Buddhist tradition. It is currently only available in the Australian department store David Jones, where Miranda is the Brand Ambassador.

Organic ingredients are exciting, but has Miranda run the entire ethical gamut and ensured her products are animal free with none of the ingredients being tested on animals?

Earlier this year, Miranda helped launch Victoria Secret’s PINK-a collection of animal-friendly vegan products with natural ingredients like soy milk.

We hope Miranda’s own launch is just as cruelty-free.

The Kind Diet

Alicia Silverstone is launching a brand new website, thekindlife.com, which will offer all her advice for all products green and vegan.

Kind of like Gwyneth Paltrow‘s Goop.com without the Thanksgiving turkey hints.

The site is pretty much bare bones now, but will get busy on October 13, the same day Silverstone’s book, The Kind Diet, is set for release.

From EcoStiletto.com:

“I created a website called TheKindLife.com to get people hooked on all my groovy latest finds—that will happen around the time of the book. I love Tammy Fender and Suki—those are my favorite skin care lines. Josie Maran lip gloss and eyeshadows [link]. Kiss My Face and Giovanni for shampoo. Desert Essence for conditioner—it smells so yummy! And Pharmacopia moisturizer. It’s all organic, except for a teeny bit of parabens. That’s my one naughty treat. I buy it like once a year. It’s smells so yummy! We have to all write to them so they’ll take the parabens out.”

We’ll be bookmarking this one for sure!

Saphoros Skincare LJ Botanicals 61st Annual Primetime Emmys

Written by Vegetarian Star on Friday, October 2nd, 2009 in Cosmetics And Beauty Products.

61st Annual Primetime Emmy Awards - Press Room

The 61st Annual Primetime Emmy Awards featured Saphoros Skincare Company’s brand, LJ Botanicals as a gift for the Everybody Wins at the EMMY® Awards gift bag, distributed by Distinctive Assets.

Did 2nd time in a row winner Alec Baldwin use some of LJ Botanicals vegan moisturizers to touch up his pretty face during commercial breaks?

The Vegan Skincare Essentials System was chosen for the gift bag, which includes a gentle cleanser, toner, exfoliator, eye treatment and moisturizer.

The kit was also presented in 100% recycled packaging.

Distinctive Assets founder Lash Fary said, “As our largest organ, our skin is no less susceptible to the good and bad we put on it. The healthier and more natural our skincare regime, the better (and younger) our skin will look and feel. That’s the reason I love this new vegan skincare line by Saphoros. And even if you’re less vegan and more vain, the efficacy of this exciting new line will have you blogging, ranting and raving to all of your friends!”

Donna Standridge, CEO of Saphoros Skin Line said, “The demand for more natural and vegan products is growing tremendously. The public is becoming increasingly more aware of what they are putting on their skin and have begun educating themselves on ingredients and potential dangers of some of them. Our ultimate goal is to provide the most safe and effective products as we can using natural and organic alternatives, and this set shows that. There are so many natural/organic alternatives to these anti-aging chemicals that work just as well, if not better, and are safer for our bodies. We want to show that luxury doesn’t have to be complicated.”
