Phil Mickelson

Forget Tiger Woods and his life drama. There are much more interesting golf stories to talk about, like Phil Mickelson going vegetarian in an effort to ease his psoriatic arthritis.

“The last seven weeks, this will be the shocker,” Mickelson said, “I’ve actually been a vegetarian believe it or not.”

“I know this is crazy, but I know, I know. No, this wasn’t recommended by a doctor, I read a book and just thought maybe it will help. And if it helps my situation, I’m all for it.”

This may be such a big shocker because  Mickelson owns the rights to Five Guys Burgers restaurants in Orange County, California.

Georges Laraque

Former NHL player Georges Laraque has been named the Deputy Leader of the Green Party in Canada. As a vegan and animal rights activist, Laraque couldn’t have picked a more appropriate organization to align himself with.

The Green Party’s Vision, a lengthy document updated in January of 2010, lists the party’s goals for a sustainable Canada that includes changes made to food, animal, transportation and employee practices. The party would like to give more support to organic farming, for example, by providing assistance for those switching to the process, which can take several years before becoming certified. It would also like to end federal assistance to the seal hunt while supporting an end to the seal hunt entirely.

Here are a few other key points from Green Vision:

Mike Tyson

Mike Tyson shared some funny and painful truths about being over a hundred pounds overweight with ESPN. Like how hard it was to take care of toilet duties and the fact that his butt disappeared.

“It was hard to wipe my butt…Oh man the back fat. The back fat is when it’s so bad, your ass looks like a board. It’s like boom. The back and ass is one.”

It also sounds as if Tyson attributes his major weight loss to his vegan diet, which he began last year.

Is Isaiah Mustafa Craving Pasta On His Vegan, Gluten-Free Diet?

Written by Vegetarian Star on Wednesday, July 28th, 2010 in Athletes-Games-Sports, Food & Drink.

Isaiah Mustafa

Isaiah Mustafa embarked on a vegan cleanse and there’s data to show he’ll smell better even without Old Spice by doing so.

The sexy actor from the deodorant and fragrance commercials isn’t complaining about the lack of meat or dairy in his diet. He’s missing the whole wheat bread!

“Right now, I’m vegan-cleansing: no processed sugar, no caffeine, no alcohol, no animal products and no gluten,” the former NFL wide receiver said. “I never knew what gluten was before. Now I know exactly what it is, and it’s everything I want!”

Actually, this sounds rather promising. If all the guy wants is a muffin or spaghetti, there’s a chance he’ll stay animal-free once his cleanse is over. But we do feel for him, considering gluten is in so many delicious foods considered staples like bread, pasta, waffles, baked desserts, couscous, cereal, soy sauces and the beloved figure worshiped by the most devout vegans–seitan!

Might we suggest gluten-free pastas to get him through this rough period?

Oh, boy. Somebody tell Mike Tyson about the wonderful vegan candy bars available

During an interview with Details magazine, Tyson reveals he won’t even cheat for his formerly beloved Baby Ruth and that meat is the new poison.

Details: So you’re going to go the rest of your life without eating a candy bar?
Mike Tyson: Maybe so. I’m pretty fucking extreme.

Details: Not even a Baby Ruth?
Mike Tyson: Oh, man, that’s the best. Chocolate and peanuts. Nah. I ate, like, the tiniest piece of meat, and I woke up violently sick. It was vicious pain. I was throwing up. And I realized meat’s become a poison for me now.

Vegan Go Max Go bars have replicated all your favorite candy bars without the butter and milk.
