The vegan heat on The Ellen DeGeneres show got even hotter as Ellen hosted Mike Tyson recently.

Tyson discussed the death of his daughter, his sobriety and his new body after going vegan.

Before and after shots are shown of Mike’s body before his lost almost 100 pounds.

Ellen: “I am vegan as well. I heard that you are vegan.”
Mike: “Two years. It’s an awesome feeling.”

The doctor is in and has given his expert opinion on whether tofu stir fry and coconut milk hinder the ability of athletes like Jon Fitch and Jake Shields to perform.

Medical columnist for MMA Junkie, Dr. Johnny Benjamin states: “As long as the total calorie intake remains constant between vegans and meat-eaters, it really doesn’t matter the source – where it’s plants or meat (we’re obviously not talking junk food here). Also, with the abundance of high-quality supplements and vitamins, ingesting the necessary amounts of amino acids and trace minerals is not very difficult for vegetarians.”

Johnny Weir Doesn’t Believe In Fake Fur

Figure skater Johnny Weir has launched into the fashion world by serving as a guest designer at Adrienne Landau’s Fall 2011 show at New York Fashion Week.

The pieces included unisex items featuring fox, rabbit, mink and chinchilla fur.

If it sounds like Weir worships real animal fur, that assumption is right on track. Weir told Stylist he doesn’t believe in fake fur.

Jon Fitch may be the first celebrity do sport a soy, almond or rice milk mustache in a campaign for non-dairy milk.

In this video from Yahoo, Fitch discusses why he doesn’t think several glasses of dairy milk  a day can do the body much good.

Some medical experts have concluded that milk isn’t beneficial and even harmful to humans based on several research studies. There’s the casein (milk protein) tied to cancer argument. And no one feels that some of the hormones given to cows such as rBGH were ever meant to improve human health. There’s also the issue as to whether cow’s milk actually provides a good source of calcium, an idea that’s been pushed for years.

Mike Tyson On What Should Happen To Michael Vick

Most of the sports world already knows how MLB player Mark Buehrle feels about Michael Vick. If you didn’t hear Buehrle’s comment, it was something along the lines of Vick being the football that gets thrown at the next Eagles game.

During an interview with ESPN, Mike Tyson gave his thoughts on how Vick should be treated.

“Listen, listen. I don’t know why people do what they do. What should we do with Michael Vick?  Really, really: Why don’t we castrate him? Why don’t we do something bad to his children to teach him a lesson? Is that really the answer?”

Jon Fitch Explains His Weird Diet On MMA Journal (Video)

Ever since Jon Fitch picked up a copy of the man’s guide to going vegetarian and vegan, Skinny Bastard, he’s gotten tough.

This guy’s so tough, you don’t want to fight him. Ever. Instead, you want to be his friend so he’ll make yummy meals for you like the kind he demonstrates in this YouTube video posted on his journal in an entry titled, “My ‘Weird Diet’ Explained.”

Fitch’s typical breakfast might consist of oatmeal sweetened with agave syrup and flavored with hemp milk. For lunch, it’s tofu stir fry and rice. He likes his nuts, but will only eat them if raw and organic. An excerpt from his journal on his new weird diet can be viewed below.

Last week, MMA fighters took the spotlight reserved for veg male athletes.

This week, it’s time to take a look at NBA players and legends whose game got better without gammon.

During a celebrity pizza making contest on Gordon Ramsay‘s Kitchen Nightmares, Miami Heat forward James Jones piled his pizza with meat toppings he’d never eat. When it’s time to order pizza for himself, Jones does things differently.

“But you see, I didn’t eat the pizza,” Jones told ESPN about the competition. “I’m the weird guy. I only eat pizza with straight sauce.”
