Quantcast Vegetarian StarJon Fitch Becomes A “Skinny Bastard” With Plant Fighting Power

Jon Fitch

Plant-based power is well represented in the MMA world and Yahoo Sports recently discussed the dietary habits of three well known fighters in the community, Jake Shields, Mac Danzig and Jon Fitch.

Fitch took up vegetarianism after discovering it’s a lot easier to buy groceries living on $800 a month when you skip the meat aisle. Given his previous habits, we’re sure he learned quickly that a dollar spent on a steady diet of steak wouldn’t stretch far.

“I would eat three meals a day with meat, and meat was the main part of every meal. I’d eat two steaks for dinner almost every night,” Fitch said of his former lifestyle.

Finch admitted he ate fish during a training camp. He also went three weeks as a complete vegan.

Did we mention this guy is a veggie bookworm?

After wife Michelle read Skinny Bitch, Fitch grabbed a copy of Skinny Bastard and then proceeded with The China Study, a book compiled with evidence that showed people living in rural China who ate the most animal products also had the most health problems.

Fitch is ranked as the #2 welterweight and the #5 pound-for-pound fighter according to MMA website, Sherdog.

I’m looking forward to seeing how he performs. I’ve personally noticed big improvements in athletic performance, strength, and endurance since being a vegan. It’s awesome to see more vegan athletes.
