Olivia Munn has revealed some details about her seemingly nude photo shoot for PETA where she protested elephants being chained for circuses.

It was all a careful combination of lights, hair placement, and possibly some color retouching on the photo, but she was definitely wearing undies.

“I actually didn’t get naked,” Munn said, according to Fox. “I haven’t gotten naked ever. I was wearing a tank top and boy shorts but I am comfortable with it appearing that way. There is nothing wrong with the naked body, but I wasn’t naked on the set. I wouldn’t be comfortable.”

Dedication Ceremony for PETA's Bob Barker Building

“About 20 years ago I was chairman of Be Kind to Animals Week in L.A. I was invited by different organizations to participate in their activities. As I did, I began to become aware of the terrible exploitation of animals in the world and felt compelled to try to rectify the situation. And that’s what I’ve been doing ever since.”

Bob Barker, on how he became involved in animal rights, especially by donating money to various organizations, including setting up an Animal Law program at a university and helping PETA renovate a building for their Los Angeles headquarters. Recently, lion cubs freed under the new Bolivian law banning animals in circuses were sent to a refuge made possible by a generous donation from Barker.

British singer Leona Lewis performs at the Rock in Rio Music Festival in Lisbon

Has Leona Lewis lost it?

In a “what was she thinking” moment, it’s been discovered she wants to ride a horse as part of her routine for her concerts.

Lewis hasn’t been able to get insurance for the stunt, something that’s preventing her from doing the cowgirl thing while singing “Bleeding Love.”

A source told the UK Daily Star:

“Health-and-safety officials wouldn’t let her ride in the studio without a helmet. A load of lawyers tried to fine-tune the idea, but Leona didn’t want to wear a hard hat. In the end, she had to sign a contract saying she wouldn’t be insured, should she fall off.”

Not only is her safety in jeopardy, but horses and any other animals aren’t fit for the stage full of loud noises, lights and other unpredictable stimuli from the crowd. Animals don’t belong in the entertainment industry, especially in this capacity. It’s a surprise that the vegetarian Leona, who’s a big supporter of animal rights and won’t wear fur or leather, is even considering this.

Cloris Leachman Funny Outtakes From Spay/Neuter PSA (Video)

Written by Vegetarian Star on Thursday, May 27th, 2010 in Actresses, Animal Issues, Videos.

Cloris Leachman‘s funny outtakes from her PSA on spaying and neutering cats and dogs is almost as funny as the actual commercial.

Leachman thinks school children should be taught how to interact with animals as part of the curriculum.

“I think we should teach in our schools how to behave with animals, how to treat them,” the actress says in the video.

If there are biology classes in junior high that want kids to cut up a dead frog, why not teach them how to care for, interact and evaluate behaviors of common pets like cats and dogs and even farm animals?

Lion Yawning

Several lion cubs freed under the new law banning animals in circuses in Bolivia will make their new home at the Performing Animal Welfare Society in California that has received generous donations from Bob Barker, vegetarian and former Price Is Right host and animal activist.

Last year, Bolivia banned animals from circuses following undercover investigation by London based group Animal Defenders International, which uncovered severe abuse of the animals. Circus operators were given a year to comply after the law took effect, and groups are trying to find ways to rescue the animals before they are “discarded” by handlers in a less humane manner.

2010 Winter TCA Tour - Day 5

Jamie Lee Curtis and Christopher Guest have written an open letter to Gary Conklin and workers at the Conklin Dairy Farm in Ohio where an undercover investigation by animal rights group Mercy For Animals revealed severe abuse to dairy cows that included body slamming, repeatedly punching them in the face, stomping on their heads, pulling them by their ears and giving as many as 40 blows to the head.

A graphic video of the ordeal can be seen after the break in this post.

“Our daughter came to us last night urging us to watch the video of the abuse at your plant. She was overcome with grief that human beings could inflict such cruelty and unconscious hatred at the most benign of creatures and their infants. The shocking images were too much for her father and me but we watched enough to know where it led.”

“What will you do?”

NFL: Super Bowl XLIV-Super Bowl Breakfast

Has Michael Vick been elevated to sainthood?

The NFL player convicted for his involvement in dog fighting activities is scheduled to host a celebrity party at the MI-VI Club at Gulfstream Park Racing & Casino in Hallandale Beach in Florida where his guests will be met by protesters, according to an article in Palm Beach Post.

But representatives from the Humane Society of the United States say Vick’s work with the organization has actually steered youth from following down his path.

“He has been effective in helping young men choose a better path,” said John Goodwin, the Humane Society’s manager of animal fighting issues. “He is the example of how dogfighting is a destructive, dead-end activity with enormous consequences.”
