Pamela Anderson "All Animals Have The Same Parts" PETA

Pamela Anderson has been banned in her own home country!

When the vegetarian actress requested permission to debut her new PETA ad in the city of Montreal, officials gave her the thumbs down because of the partial nudity. The ad, shown here, reads, All Animals Have The Same Parts. Have a Heart. Go Vegetarian. Anderson’s “parts” are divided into breast, rump, ribs, legs, etc. showing where similar cuts of animal meat comes from.

Anderson will still be able to debut the ad Thursday evening, but it will be without the city’s blessing, as officials say it has hints of sexism in it.

“On one hand we’re working for an organization where we’re getting reminded on a daily basis that we should work in a sexism-free environment and that equality between men and women and the image of women is very important,” said Montreal film commissioner Daniel Bissonnette, who denied the permit.

Olivia Munn joined protesters from Last Chance for Animals and PETA in Los Angeles  Staples Center recently to speak against Ringling Brothers Barnum and Bailey, which is performing in the city through Sunday.

Munn said, “When you look at something like the circus and everyone’s laughing and there’s color and there’s music and everything seems so great. But when you go right behind that door and they’re in these crates all day long and then they’re getting shocked and beat just so they can get up and dance around on a ball … it was just so sickening.”

Pamela Anderson

It may be hard to picture a glamorous actress like Pamela Anderson picking up poo, but it’s all a labor of love for the former Baywatch star, vegetarian and animal rights activist.

Anderson gives her time to the California Wildlife Center in Santa Monica, California, where her duties include feeding baby owls and making good use of the pooper scooper.

Anderson told UK’s Fabulous magazine, “I clean out all the poop in the birdcages and feed all the little owls – the baby ones – with frozen mice parts. Occasionally a little frozen paw or ear will fall off!”

A woman reads a brochure for the movie The Cove at a theatre in Tokyo July 3, 2010. Protesters gathered at the Japanese opening of The Cove , a controversial Oscar-winning documentary about a grisly annual dolphin hunt. After several cancellations in several cities, the Oscar winning documentary on the killing of dolphins on the island of Taiji, The Cove, finally debuted in some Japanese theatres.

According to the New York Times, although opposition was still strong during the showings, movie goers welcomed the education, citing they knew nothing of dolphin hunting and that the Japanese had a right to know such things.

While many of the dolphins captured on the island are killed and sold as unhealthy, mercury laden meat, some are taken to marine parks. The movie prompted one famous dolphin broker, Chris Porter, known as the “darth vador” by animal rights activists, to release his 17 dolphins and find a new profession.

Rocsi Diaz BET “106 And Park” Host Says Adopt With PETA2

Written by Vegetarian Star on Tuesday, July 13th, 2010 in Animal Issues, TV Hosts.

Rocsi Diaz, host of BET’s music video countdown show, 106 and Park, invited her dog Chi Chi to co-host a special announcement with PETA2 urging the adoption of pets versus buying them in stores.

Diaz and Chi Chi are cute as buttons, but wouldn’t it be great it one day there wasn’t a need for PSAs like these? If people won’t adopt cats, dogs and other animals voluntarily, maybe law will require they rescue shelter animals instead.

Beekman Boys

Beekman Boys

Summertime and the living is no longer easy.

Porky and Bess, the pigs reared by The Fabulous Beekman Boys, Josh Kilmer-Purcell and Dr. Brent Ridge, the stars of Planet Green’s show about two gay farmers,  have gone on to to piggy heaven, making a short stop in the bellies of the couple.

Fans are outraged that the slaughter was shown on a recent episode, especially given the fact they were forced to see the faces of the dead pigs once seen full of vibrancy.

But that’s just “humane” farming.

On the show’s Facebook page, fans gave their opinions on the matter. Yes, it was known all along the Beekmans raise their own food so eventually all the pets would be eaten, but the reality may have never sank in for some people.

Paul the Octopus

Paul, the psychic Octopus is retiring from his career of predicting sports games, leaving the way for Miss Cleo to put on her bikini and jump in the tank instead.

The Octopus who correctly predicted Spain winning the World Cup over the Netherlands has almost a 100% success rate at guessing the outcome of sporting events, especially when it comes to Germany. Paul would be presented two boxes of food displaying the nation’s flags. Whichever box he chose to eat from was usually the winner of the game. When his recent prediction put Germany on the losing side, fans threatened to make paella out of him. Just imagine what they’d do to the referees.

PETA has called for his release from the Aquarium Sea Life Centre in Oberhausen, Germany, citing the confined conditions as unhealthy for the sea creature.
