Arnold Schwarzenegger

The Terminator is helping to terminate hen cruelty in California.

Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger has just signed a law that will require all whole (shell) eggs sold in California to come from hens that were able to, “stand up, lie down, turn around, and fully extend their limbs without touching one another or the sides of an enclosure,” according to the Humane Society blog.

That means California will essentially be a cage-free state.

Betty White Calendar With Naked Men Benefits Morris Animal Foundation

Ok, so the men aren’t totally naked. But close enough.

Betty White can be found soaking up the good life in a new calendar that will benefit the Morris Animal Foundation, an organization she has supported and worked with for almost 50 years that conducts research related to animal well being, such as helping more dogs get adopted by developing quick, efficient behavioral test that predicts compatibility with a home.

The 2011 Betty White Calendar contains archive photos, as well as current ones of White posing with animals–both two and four legged.

The calendar is $12.99 and goes on sale in September.

Jenna Dewan Tatum, wife of Channing Tatum, looks a little weird and creepy is this faux snakeskin outfit while posing in a PETA ad meant to educate on the use of exotic snake skins in the fashion industry. Likewise, anyone who wears such attire should be aware they look just as ridiculous–unless they’re a serpent.

Jenna described how she felt when she learned how snakes are killed for their skins.

“They actually club them over the head. And they’re not even dead yet and then they start to skin them.” Jenna said “it was so awful” to see the snakes squirming in pain.

Gary Conklin, owner of Conklin Dairy Farm, the Ohio based farm where Billy Joe Gregg, Jr. was caught on camera beating a cow and poking it with a pitchfork by animal rights group Mercy for Animals, will not be charged with any criminal activity involving the incident with one of his employees.

This cleared the way for him to talk to ABN, Ohio’s Voice for Agriculture, about the incident, the employee charged with several counts of cruelty, and its impact on business and his family.

Despite the long stay away from home, the girls say it’s almost normal for them to be away from him for long periods of time, given the nature of his career. And 13 year old Alycia Bethune would like to follow in her dad’s footsteps.
