Kevin Nealon

Comedian and actor Kevin Nealon will host a celebrity poker tournament on March 16 that benefits Farm Sanctuary.

The event will also feature vegan snacks and drinks and a special performance from Grammy winning singer and songwriter Colbie Caillat.

The event takes place at the Petersen Automotive Museum in Conor Penthouse (4th Floor), located at 6060 Wilshire Blvd in Los Angeles, CA 90036. Doors open at 7:00 PM. The tournament begins at 7:30.

“I still have plenty of vices, but alcohol isn’t one of them. It’s probably just down to sleep and diet. If you travel long haul a lot or don’t sleep much, it’s not going to last very long, that’s for sure. I’m pretty healthy so I think that helps a lot. “Well I grew up there so I got a million “only in New York” stories, but … right now I’m a big Candle Cafe guy. My daughter’s gone vegan recently and we like Candle Cafe, on the East and West side. So maybe I’ll get a free piece of tofu out of that plug.”

David Duchovny, in Gothamist, explaining that although he’s a multimillionaire actor, he’s not above doing a gig for a free piece of soy.

Kyle Chandler Daughter Sawyer Lobby For Sharks In Texas

Kyle Chandler, star of the hit television series Friday Night Lights, will be joining his adolescent daughter Sawyer to educate lawmakers in Texas on the cruelty of shark finning.

Chandler is scheduled to address legislatures on Humane Lobby Day on March 14.

He and Sawyer back H.B.852/S.B. 572, which intends to “prohibit the sale, trade, purchase and transportation of shark fins in Texas.”

Joaquin Phoenix Drowns In PETA Anti-Fishing Ad (Video)

Joaquin Phoenix is the unfortunate star in a new ad from People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals that highlights the suffering and struggle fish endure.

“My family and I were on a boat, catching fish,” Phoenix said of a fishing experience he had as a child.

“As one fish was caught, he was writhing, then he was thrown against the side of the boat. You couldn’t disguise what it was. This was what we did to animals to eat them. The animal went from a living, vibrant creature fighting for life to a violent death. I recognized it, as did my brothers and sisters.”

Casey Affleck Pushes MA Prevention Of Farm Animal Cruelty Act

Casey Affleck is backing a new initiative to improve the living conditions of millions of animals living on farms.

The Massachusetts Prevention of Farm Animal Cruelty Act asks Congress to pass a law, “prohibiting veal crates, gestation crates, and battery cages, generally used to confine chickens.

Affeck wrote a letter on behalf of three animal welfare organziations–Farm Sanctuary, the ASPCA, and the Massachusetts Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals–advocating this change.
