Next Food Network Star

Reality TV cooking shows usually play devil and not angel to vegetarian contestants and meals, but during a recent episode of The Next Food Network Star, the chefs made meals from Kellogg’s products that were mostly meatless.

The bad boys and girls must be ice skating in hell right now, because when Paula Deen eats tofu the place has definitely frozen over.

And amazingly, Paula didn’t wrap the piece of soy in bacon, fry it in lard and dip it in butter.

Coldplay rocked the popular British Glastonbury Festival this weekend and The Mirror is reporting that the band requested vegetarian, gluten-free dips for their backstage buffet.

The online tabloid jokes the band’s choice of food was “anti rock n’ roll” and a “waste,” but those that “Vida La Vida” like vegetarian frontman Chris Martin know the best way to single, double or even triple dip is with anything green and crunchy.

Written by Vegetarian Star on Friday, June 24th, 2011 in Environment-Eco-Green, Transportation.

Pope Benedict XVI

The Pope is not as brash as Mercedes-Benz is, so he doesn’t go around bragging about the number of dead animals it took to make the popemobile. But that doesn’t mean he shouldn’t consider trying to eliminate the dead animals that go into it.

PETA has taken the time to write to Pope Benedict XVI, asking him to request the next car the automobile company makes for him to travel in be manufactured without leather.

Steve-O

“Everyone should dramatically simplify their life and reduce their spending because there’s going to be less expendable income. I’m pretty careful. I drive the cheapest car Nissan makes and I rent a two bedroom apartment in Glendale. What I spend money on is organic, vegan food.”

Steve-O, to Fox 411 Poptarts.

If you’re the frugal type, you might be interested in knowing that spending your money on “organic, vegan food” like Steve may very well be the best way save a nickel or two. The folks at Good.is–who happen to be doing a 30-day vegetarian challenge–have compared vegan, vegetarian, pescatarian and meat-eating diets in terms of what one might spend on breakfast, lunch and dinner. One day’s worth of meals for a vegan was $11.15, but a meat eater put out a whopping $14.65!  Don’t know about  you, but we can think of plenty of ways to use that extra $3 a day…like spending it on more delicious vegan food.
