Alissa White-Gluz from the Montreal based metal band The Agonist, knows there’s nothing more hardcore than finding a good vegan meal while on the road.

She regularly uses HappyCow.net to locate vegan establishments around the world and brags that her hometown is one of best places to find food.

Alissa told Veg Belly:

“Since I became vegan about 15 years ago, the vegan scene has really flourished. There are lots of university-centered areas of the city where you can find 2 to 3 vegan restaurants or stores within the same block. We kept hearing the same things over and over again, that ‘it’s too hard,’ ‘the food’s weird,’ or ‘I really don’t know how to use things like mock meat or fake cheeses.’ And so we really wanted to address those issues.”

–Annie Shannon, co-author of the book that turns takes the meat, egg and dairy out of classic Betty Crocker Recipes, Betty Goes Vegan.
