AFI’s Hunter Burgan Is Cover Boy For MacBeth Vegan Shoes

Written by Vegetarian Star on Wednesday, January 7th, 2009 in Fashion, Male Musicians.

KROQ Almost Acoustic Xmas - Day 1

Not happy with band mate Davey Havok hogging all the vegan fashion spotlight with his Zu Boutique designer clothing, AFI bassist Hunter Burgan has agreed to be the Vegan Ambassador for MacBeth Shoes.

MacBeth has “crowned” him Vegan Ambassador and announced the news that he is designing another vegan shoe for the line.

Wonder if there is serious catty competition among the boys lately?

The Hunter

In a statement, MacBeth said:

“Burgan’s dedication to vegan ideals and his friendship with Macbeth have already helped build the Macbeth Vegan program into what it is today. Burgan will be the face and focus of Macbeth’s Vegan program, involved in all things vegan related, from hosting a new vegan blog to helping with design, and everything in between.”

The shoe, aptly titled, “The Hunter,” was designed to be not only pretty, but functional as well.

“Burgan’s design goal for his second Studio Project was to create a vegan high top that is the perfect marriage between fashion and function. He needs a shoe that provides ankle support for his active live performances, but also wanted something that reflects his sophisticated design aesthetic.”

Burgan’s pretty/practical high top is scheduled to be available globally in February. By then, Davey will have a new T-shirt out and one-upped him.

4th Annual MusiCares Benefit Concert - Arrivals

Remember Anthony Kiedis’ personal vegan chef, Laura Dakin, he hired last year? She’s now working on the Sea Shepherd Conservation Society’s “Whale Wars” boat, Steve Irwin.

Laura is the gal who makes sure the crew gets three vegan meals a day while fighting Japanese hunters in the Southern Ocean.

She’s the Chief Cook on board and has held this position since 2005. Guess Anthony’s had to share her vegan food lovin’!

She’s got the seas in her blood-her father was an Australian Naval Officer.

You gotta wonder how poor Anthony gets by in the kitchen when Laura’s performing her duties at sea.

Did Pamela Anderson Get Her Christmas Present?

Pamela Anderson Press Conference Ahead Of Big Brother Appearance

Tis the season for returns.

The giving and receiving phase is over. Now it’s time to gather those gift receipts, switch and swap, and yes, even re-gift everything you got last month that you don’t like. Ideally, you got what you wanted. Wonder if Pamela Anderson did as well…

Last month she told Female First that all she wanted for Christmas was Stella McCartney. Now before you guys go drooling at the thought of what this might mean, we’ll set the record straight: she’s talking about cruelty-free fashion.

“You feel very alive wearing her clothes and knowing nothing has been killed,” she said.

Pamela once said she felt bad at the thought of starting the trend of wearing Ugg boots-which are made of sheepskin-that she eventually stopped wearing.

“I feel so guilty for that craze being started around my ‘Baywatch’ days – I used to wear them with my red swimsuit to keep warm – never realising that they were SKIN! I thought they were shaved kindly. People like to tell me all the time that I started that trend – yikes!”

Alanis Morissette’s Vegan Now: You Oughta Know!

Alanis Morissette Performs At The Hard Rock

Cause she’s got one hand in her pocket, and the other one grabbing a soy milk.

Once upon a time, Canadian diva Alanis Morissette was a strict vegetarian. Then she started to indulge in processed food here and there thinking as long as she kept everything in moderation, she’d be okay.

Fast forward 20 pounds later and feeling sluggish in the morning, Alanis decided it was time to go back, this time going all the way to being vegan.

She followed an eating plan outlined in the book Eat to Live, by Dr. Joel Fuhrman, a physician associated with the Physicians Committee For Responsible Medicine, which recommends shunning meat and dairy.

She spoke to Ok! Magazine about her new body which she said makes her feel 12 years old again about how she happened to discover Dr. Fuhrman’s book.

“I went to my favorite bookstore, Banyen Books and Sound, in Vancouver. I saw this book, Eat to Live, and I thought, that’s exactly what I want to do. I wasn’t interested in some fad diet that was unsustainable, like “lose 10 pounds in two weeks.” I don’t believe in diets; I think they’re short-term and a bit of an emotional roller-coaster. So I opened it and flipped through and thought the weight loss is incidental. The primary focus is disease prevention.”

'Pride and Glory' premiere celebrity arrivals in New York City

Being in charge of yummy vegan sweets has got to be the best responsibility ever!

Actress Lake Bell may be best known for her role as Tipper in What Happens in Vegas alongside Ashton Kutcher and Cameron Diaz. But she’s currently starring in a web streamed series on WB.com called Childrens’ Hospital, which pokes fun at other medical shows on TV like Grey’s Anatomy and “ER.”

She’s a vegan and when she went home for the holidays to her family in New York, her job was to take care of the desserts.

Before she left, she told Just Jared:

“I’m a vegan, so I’m in charge of all the vegan desserts. I’ve ordered everything this time, even though I do love to cook. I like to support this bakery called Baby Cakes in New York, which is a vegan bakery. But you don’t know its vegan, it’s so good.”

Lake may never read what we wrote about her, as she’s not a big blog lover, but more into online shopping. Read the rest of her interview with Just Jared.

“When I was a vegan 15 or 20 years ago, it was a lot more difficult. First of all, no one knew what the word “vegan” meant and there weren’t very many [veg] restaurants. When it came to traveling it was especially hard, but now almost every decent-sized city has health-food stores and vegetarian restaurants; people do seem a lot more receptive to the notion of someone being a vegan now than they were 20 years ago.”

Heather Mills Will Cook For You

Written by Vegetarian Star on Tuesday, December 30th, 2008 in Food & Drink, Models.

Heather Mills Named Honorary Chair Of Hunts Point Alliance For Children

Heather Mills has been quiet these past few months, but she’s back on the scene hoping to silence you by stuffing you full of vegan food.

Paul McCartney’s ex is participating in a charity auction where she has promised to cook the winners “a healthy yummy amount of food,” according to Charity Buzz. The only catch is you have to follow her around for an entire day and listen to her talk to you about healthy vegan diet tips. Not too bad for a home cooked vegan meal!

While the two lucky winners are visiting alternative health clinics with Heather in either New York or London, she will share diet and life skills, such as stress management. At the end of the day, it’s pig out time, vegan style!

The auction benefits New York Coalition For Healthy School Food (NYCHSF), a nonprofit that’s trying to get the junk off children’s plates, both in the school cafeteria and at home. NYCHSF advocates plant based and local and organic foods as well as educate students on nutrition. Good for them, for advocating plant based foods. We hear they’re still teaching some baloney (bad pun) about meat being one of the main food groups.

You have until January 8 to bid on a day with Heather. Hope you win and if you do, you’ll have to give us your opinion on her cooking. We need to know, in case she ever decides to finally come out with her vegan food line.
