Pamela Anderson Helped Others Meat The Truth

Pamela Anderson Press Conference

Pamela Anderson was presented with a copy of Meat the Truth, a documentary on the effects of the meat industry and the environment she participating in making, at the RAI Congress Centre in Amsterdam earlier this month.

If you remember us telling you, Anderson wrote a letter giving sex tips to Queen Beatrix of the Netherlands before leaving for the trip.

When Al Gore presented An Inconvenient Truth, some say he forgot to highlight an important component for saving the world from global climate change: vegetarianism.

Meat the Truth, by Karen Soeters (Director, Nicolaas G. Pierson Foundation) is the documentary that picks up where An Inconvenient Truth left off. According to the creators of Meat the Truth, the livestock industry is responsible for 18% of all greenhouse gas emissions and that’s 40% more than the emissions created by all the cars, trucks, trains, boats and planes added together.

Here’s a fun fact for you frequent fliers: If all Americans would not eat meat for one day a week, it would save 90 million plane tickets from New York to Los Angeles in terms of carbon emissions.

The video below contains more facts as well as a statement made by comedian Bill Maher. Several other celebrities helped make, Meat the Truth, including Maher, James Cromwell, Emily Deschanel, and Hal Sparks.

Pamela Anderson Tells Queen Fur Bad For Sex Life

Written by Vegetarian Star on Monday, December 15th, 2008 in Actresses.

Pamela Anderson - Tutti Pazzi per la Tele

Ooh, Kid Rock’s gonna be steamed about this one.

Pamela Anderson wrote to Queen Beatrix in The Netherlands to talk about two issues that are near and dear to her heart: fur and sex.

The combination of the two words sounds rather kinky, but it’s nothing more than Pam’s animal side, er, animal rights side coming out.

“I’m thrilled to be visiting Holland this week not only because of the country’s charm but also because of its progressive outlook on two issues close to my heart: sex and animal rights. These topics overlap when it comes to fur: Nothing has less sex appeal than a fur coat.”

She goes on to ask that since Holland has already banned certain types of fur farms, why not go all the way and ban it all?

Read the rest of Pamela’s letter for suggestions on increasing sex appeal to the Queen.

Pamela Anderson Signs Pact With The Leather Devil

Written by Vegetarian Star on Friday, November 21st, 2008 in Actresses, Fashion, Not So Vegetarian.

Vivienne Westwood Red Label - LFW Spring Summer 2009 - Runway

Pamela Anderson has been one of the most outspoken celebrities for vegetarianism and against animal cruelty. Therefore, it’s quite a surprise to learn she has singed a deal to be the face of fashion designer Vivienne Westwood.

The designer has stopped using fur in her creations. However, she has a long way to go before she can call herself cruelty-free. Leather is still being used to dress the svelte models who walk her runway and the same fashion designs will make their way to the consumer, such as the fuchsia leather suit from the spring 2009 collection.

Some vegetarians have different standards when it comes to eating versus clothing, but since Pamela Anderson has been so pro-vegan, working with PETA, protesting against Kentucky Fried Chicken, and calling out a certain singer for the clothing she chose to wear, it’s not something you would expect from her.

She even has expressed a desire to design her own line of vegan shoes, after finding out one of her favorite kind, Ugg boots, contain sheepskin.

Is it possible she just doesn’t know?

Shortly after she began taping “Big Brother” in Australia, it was revealed that KFC, a company she protested against so heavily, was a sponsor for the show. Pammie claimed to know nothing of it. Or did she?

Money sometimes makes you forgetful. The Vivienne Westwood deal is worth six figures. Still, other vegetarian stars don’t have problems with dementia. Leona Lewis turned down over a million to avoid being associated with a store that sold fur.

Pamela Anderson’s Letter To Obama Advocates Vegetarianism

Pamela Anderson gives press conference in Moscow

Now that Obama has been elected, everyone has their ideas for what he should be doing during his term, including celebrities.

Pamela Anderson took it upon herself to write a letter to Obama asking him to promote vegetarianism and end animal testing, among other things.

“Promote vegetarianism-which would help end world hunger- crack down on factory farming that is killing the environment and slaughtering so many animals- wastefully and carelessly and its unhealthy/and its just impractical- to think this is monitored/regulated effectively…”

“Stop all these garbage, wasteful and ineffective ,ancient animal tests (from 80 years ago?)- create a REAL working dedicated and active group of people assigned to this issue- science is suppose to be progressive?”

“We need to get with it- update like Europe has its an embarrassment and nobody wishes this senseless cruelty to go on.”

“My exhibitionism can be a great vehicle – here are the boobs, now let’s talk about animal experimentation.”

It definitely gets discussion going. Whether or not the conversation and thoughts are about animal rights is yet to be determined.

Kellie Pickler Vegetarian Thanks To The Power Of Blonds

The 43rd Annual Academy Of Country Music Awards - Arrivals

Kiss that meat goodbye, girlfriend!

We always like it when someone crosses over to our side. Country music star and American Idol finalist Kellie Pickler is the latest celebrity to become vegetarian. Even better, she’s talking about it.

In People Magazine, she credits both Pamela Anderson and Carrie Underwood for helping her convert. We call it the power of blonds.

Pickler first switched to being a veg for health reasons. Then she saw a video by Pamela Anderson on animal rights, which, much like the experience of Anthony Kiedis, convinced her there was no turning back.

“A lot of it has to do with knowing what happens to the animals and it really bothered me and so I will not eat meat,” she said.

So Pamela Anderson is the first blond. Then comes fellow Idol alumnus Carrie Underwood. When she made the decision, she began texting back and forth, asking Carrie all sorts of newbie questions, such as “Is fish considered a meat?” Underwood, being the ever supportive teacher didn’t know if Pickler could pull it off at first and was amazed that she stuck through it.

Being a small fish in a large pond, Pickler is careful not to get too preachy. There aren’t many vegetarians in country music, with Shania Twain being one of the few.

“Most country girls do like their meat!” she said.

Now one less country girl eats her meat.
