Two impressive vegetarians are being honored this month for their activism.

Mark Ruffalo will be recognized by Global Green USA for speaking out against hydrofracking while Bob Barker will be honored for his animal activism by Mercy For Animals.

It’s going to be an intense weekend this June 4–an incredible doing good explosion!

Bob Barker will be honored at the Honoring Heroes Event, hosted by animal rights group Mercy for Animals.

The event is to both celebrate Barker’s three decades of animal activism and to recognize the hundreds of undercover activists who risk their safety to undercover cruelty on farms.

Jane Velez-Mitchell recently featured a segment on Headline News about the discovery of animal cruelty on the E6 Cattle company farm in Texas.

Nathan Runkle, founder of Mercy For Animals, the organization which performed the undercover investigation, is a guest.

“The reality is that this facility had no animal welfare policy or training and there is a complete lack of oversight,” Runkle said.

Several vegan celebrities are having the pleasuring of receiving complimentary samples of what it called the world’s first vegan queso.

In honor of Earth Day, Food for Lovers, producers of the World’s First Vegan Queso, has been selected by celebrity gifting company, Distinctive Assets, to distribute the vegan cheesy substitute to celebrities like Ellen DeGeneres and Alicia Silverstone this week.

An ABC Nightline documentary created from an undercover investigation at a dairy farm won a Genesis Award from the Humane Society of the United States.

Footage showed workers at Willet Dairy in East Genoa, New York kicking and hitting animals, digging their fingers into animals’ eye sockets, cows being dragged and animals’ tails and horns being removed without anesthesia.  The undercover investigator with the animal rights organization Mercy For Animals shot the footage while working as a mechanic.

Actor James Cromwell has lent his voice to a new film produced by animal rights group Mercy For Animals, Farm To Fridge.

The film gives viewers an inside look at farms where animals are raised for food. Although brief–only 12 minutes in length–Farm To Fridge is able to examine the cruelty involved in a variety of animal agriculture, including beef, pork, egg, dairy, poultry and seafood.

MFA used footage it obtained from undercover investigations. This is the same group that uncovered the cruelty that took place at the Ohio dairy farm, Conklin, where a worker was charged with 12 counts of animal cruelty after seen punching, stomping and beating cows on tape.

“James was our first choice to narrate the film,” MFA Founder and Executive Director Nathan Runkle told VegNews in an interview. “In addition to being an Academy Award-nominee and seasoned actor, he is an ethical vegan, a dedicated, sincere, and passionate animal-rights advocate, and has an incredibly impactful voice. We approached James about this project and he eagerly jumped on board. We are so thrilled and grateful to be partnering with him.”
