Vogues 1 Year Anniversary Party For 3.1 Phillip Lims LA Store - Arrivals

Grey’s Anatomy actress Jessica Capshaw recently talked about how she is becoming more and more eco-friendly these days, thanks to her husband, Christopher Gavigan, Executive Director and CEO of Healthy Child, Healthy World, a national non-profit organization devoted to children’s environmental health.

“I owe [my eco-consciousness] completely to my husband,” Jessica said.

“Christopher really understands the idea of living as naturally as you possibly can and being conscious of the effect that you have on your environment.”

However, Jessica isn’t interested in doing one simple move that would make a bigger impact than all the recycling, hybrid driving, and consumption reduction in the world would do by going vegetarian.

Although she does try to reduce her meat intake and keep it out of her two year old son’s diet, she says she can’t imagine life without an occasional cheeseburger.

“I’m a Midwesterner!” she said. “Not being able to have a cheeseburger once in a while would be torture!”

Ah, come on, Jess!

There’s not one soy, seitan, or otherwise vegetable protein burger you can’t find in Hollywood to suit your fancy?

Sounds like fellow cast mate Sandra Oh needs to include Jessica in an afternoon vegan restaurant outing.

Land of the Lost Premiere
Wait a minute.

Several months ago, Brooke Shields blamed “being with child” as the reason she gave into meat cravings after being a vegetarian for 15 years.

Now, she’s sounding as if it was her husband’s fault she went back to beef.

Technically, if being pregnant caused meat cravings and her husband, ahem, “helped” with getting her pregnant…

In a recent interview with Rachael Ray, Brooke reveals that her husband’s best meal is when he rubs it, or, uh, makes his own rub for beef and chicken.

“He mixes his own dry rub for beef and chicken. I was a vegetarian until he started to cook for me! He also makes an amazing grilled steak with garlic and herb butter. It just melts in your mouth.”

No, no, no Brooke! It’s supposed to be the other way around. You were supposed to show Chris Henchy how to rub it on faux beef and chicken.

A source said, “Brad hates seeing the children eating meat and he’s annoyed with how much red meat Angelina has.”

The source added that Brad wants the family to go vegetarian, but Angelina says that will never happen.

Uh-oh. Nothing like trouble in what would otherwise be paradise.

What do you guys think? Will the Brangelina fam go veg?

Are you living in a mixed meal household that frequently has arguments over how much meat the omnivores are eating?

Miley Cyrus and Billy Ray Cyrus attend the German premiere of Hannah Montana - The Movie

Once upon a time, Miley Cyrus was a vegetable hating vegetarian.

Now it seems she’s hating on the whole veg lifestyle as it’s been revealed she’s couldn’t resist giving into those occasional meat cravings now and then.

“I’m from Tennessee and we like country fried steak a lot,” Miley said to Inquirer.net. “I like fried food. I wasn’t able to give up the meat. I want a steak or a burger from McDonald’s every once in a while. A double-double is just way too good. I’ve still got to eat. I’ve got the rest of my life to stay healthy.”

Now we know you Tennesseans are shaking your heads and restraining yourself from giving Miley a smack for speaking for all of you.

Ginnifer Goodwin is from Tennessee too Miley. That’s no excuse.

If Hannah Montana likes to fry it, she could at least fry tofu in vegetable oil. And country fried steak? Amy might be able to help her out in the Southern Whole Meals department.

Why not try a vegan until 6 thing like Mark Bittman. Or the Graham Hill weekday vegetarian plan.

Teenagers are already experiencing high blood pressure and wacko blood sugar levels that put them at risk for heart disease later.

Don’t just write it off Miley, because contrary to what you say, you don’t have your entire life to be healthy.

Gwyneth Paltrow Makes Veggie B.L.T. Fancy With Avocado

Written by Vegetarian Star on Friday, June 26th, 2009 in Actresses, Food & Drink, Recipes.

LA Premiere Of Valentino: The Last Emperor

The current recipe entry in Gwyneth Paltrow’s Goop newsletter features a vegan B.L.T., or BLAT (Bacon Lettuce Avocado and Tomato) complete with her favorite mayonnaise substitute, Vegenaise.

Gwyneth says it best in the introduction to the recipe:

“This MAKE is for my no-dairy, no-meat, no-white flour (if you omit the croutons) loving friends who are looking for a quick, casual summer lunch. Proof that vegan food rocks!”

Yes, girlfriend, this sandwich does rock, and there’s a beautiful food porn picture of the stacked vegan goodness at Goop.com.

Gwyneth compliments that BLAT entry with un-Caesar salad-Caesar salad minus egg yolks and anchovies-and homemade rosemary and thyme croutons.

It’s all washed down with agave sweetened lemonade.

The best thing about veggie bacon is that it’s missing all the fatty sections that regular bacon has in it, so you get more “meat” in your bite. A good brand to check out is Lightlife Smart Bacon.

Ugly Betty’s Ana Ortiz: How About A Veg, Eco Baby!

Written by Vegetarian Star on Sunday, June 21st, 2009 in Actresses, Environment-Eco-Green.

Marriage Equality Rally in New York City

Ugly Betty star Ana Ortiz is about to give birth any minute now!

She recently chatted with Celebrity Baby Blog on her plans to bring the child up as eco friendly as possible.

“And for me, I’ve been really lucky to get all of this yummy organic clothing, and my nursery is all organic and eco-friendly. My daughter’s just going to be really hip! My goal is to be as eco-conscious as possible: There’s so much out there for parents who want to do that. I plan to keep her eco-friendly as she gets older. I think we all sort of have to do it. I’m lucky enough to be able to do it, so we just have to drive the market toward it so it becomes more possible to make and more accessible to consumers. People will realize how much easier and better it is to be local and organic. But it’s just not available to everyone right now.”

We’d like to do a little PSA for vegetarianism and remind Ana how easy it is to be EXTREMELY eco friendly by just going veg!

She and baby would lighten their carbon footprint tremendously by taking meat off the plate. By going vegetarian, they’d help reduce the number of livestock gas emissions and free up land space to grow plant crops for humans, versus farms animals. Not to mention what a better way to bring a baby in the world and teach it about kindness than instructing it to refrain from partaking in the cruelty of killing and eating animals.

Go veg, Ana. There’s nothing ugly about that!
