Not even pizza delivery guys can promise a quick meal at your doorstep anymore, but Robin Wright would at least like a vegan dinner that doesn’t take all day to cook.

Woody Harrelson is known for impressing his co-stars on film sets with vegan food, but when he tried to convince his Rampart co-star to eat what his personal chef cooked, she complained the food took too long to make.

Woody Harrelson has backed a decision by the National Institutes of Health to delay moving almost 200 chimpanzees from an animal sanctuary to a medical lab until further investigation is made on whether the move would provide any valuable contributions to research.

“These aging chimpanzees… have endured decades of violence and torment, having been used in everything from space experiments to high-velocity seat belt tests,”  Harrelson wrote in a letter after learning of the proposed move.

Woody Harrelson and his wife Laura Louie have written to Congress, asking them to support H.R. 4870, a bill that would incorporate more vegetarian lunches and non dairy beverages in school menus that is otherwise known as the Healthy School Meals Act.

The longtime vegetarians wrote, “As parents, we ask you to support HR 4870, the Healthy School Meals Act of 2010. We know from watching our own children grow up that eating habits children develop early on stick with them for life. All too often, young people are offered processed meats and cheese and other greasy, high-fat, high-cholesterol foods.”

“The Healthy School Meals Act will help children develop better eating habits, provide healthful plant-based options that naturally contain no cholesterol, are low in saturated fat and high in fibre, enabling schools to reach high nutrition standards easily. The legislation gives schools the incentive and ability to address the health problems that are harming our children and overburdening our health systems.”

The bill was introduced by representative Jared Polis, who lost a significant amount of weight after making changes to his diet and has expressed concern for the childhood obesity epidemic.

Woody Harrelson Turned Vegan From A Bus Ride

Written by Vegetarian Star on Friday, April 2nd, 2010 in Actors, Food & Drink.

82nd Annual Academy Awards - Arrivals

We’ve heard this one before.

Woody Harrelson was on a bus, full of mucus, acne and sinus issues.

A woman on the bus tells him to stop eating that cheese stuff, he takes her advice and his skin and upper respiratory system live happily ever after.

Harrelson told Hustler,”When I was 23, 24, I used to have a really bad runny nose, mucus, tons of acne, reddishness all over. A woman on a bus I took looked at me and said I was lactose intolerant.”

“(She said), ‘Stop dairy for three days, and all this is going to go away.’ I stopped dairy, and sure enough it was gone three days later, never to return except when I get dairy accidentally.”

Just last year, Harrelson told Maxim a similar story.

“I was about 24 years old and I had tons of acne and mucus. I met some random girl on a bus who told me to quit dairy and all those symptoms would go away three days later. By God she was right.”

Apparently this advice is golden enough to be talked about within a six month time frame.

It’s gotta be a must try!

Any former dairy heads out there who gave it up in exchange for a baby bottom’s smooth face?

Woody Harrelson taught fellow vegan screen star Alicia Silverstone what products she should be using in her bathtub.

According to Metro, Harrelson was entertaining Silverstone with his family and the actress was going to take a bath outside.

“Woody said, “I don’t want my kids getting in your bath. Look at all the products you’re using.”

“You can’t even read the ingredients and they’re going into your skin.”

“That was a big awakening for me. That was the day I learned the importance of natural products.”

If you don’t have a famous actor teaching you the propers of cleanliness, there’s always the Cosmetics Database at cosmeticsdatabase.org.

Going to the home page and typing in the name of a brand or product will give you a score of how safe the product is for your skin based on ingredients shown to cause health problems.

The greater the score, the greater the hazard and you probably should try another product.

Ingredients like Butylene Glycol, may score lower with reactions listed such as skin irritation, while DMDM Hydantoin or Sodium Laureth Sulfate (both found in shampoos and soaps) indicate higher risks.
