It’s about that time of year when it gets scorching hot in many places in the world, and we still haven’t reached August!

If you feel like you’re wearing an extra sweater, your dog feels like he’s in a snowsuit!

Although dogs do have sweat glands, they just aren’t made for cooling them off like ours are.

Here’s a little PSA Simon Cowell did awhile back about never leaving Fido or Fluffy in a parked car because the temperatures can rise so quickly.

“From be it from me to be critical,” Simon sarcastically says, “But I find it really abhorring that this year, thousands of dogs will die of heat stroke inside parked cars.”

It doesn’t matter if think you’re going to be a minute-you never know what delay could happen!

Take your four-legged friend with you when you leave the car and you both will get through the summer together.

King of mean American Idol judge Simon Cowell can no longer continue to play the Dr. Evil cause we know he’s just a big ol’ softie.

Simon recently gave an interview with PETA where he talked about everything doggy related-from buying purebreeds to adoption to animal care and cruelty. When the subject of past Idol contestant’s involvement in animal issues came up (like Carrie Underwood), Simon even joked that they’d have to put being good to animals on the audition questionnaire.

Here are a few tidbits:

We see a lot of dogs chained outside like bicycles, for life. What is your message to people who do that?

That’s disgraceful. The awful thing about what that person doesn’t realize is that in the dog’s mind, as he’s being chained up … that dog has put his trust in the person who’s chaining him. That dog would give up his life nine times out of 10 for the person who’s chaining him up. … For a dog, under those circumstances, just to be left alone, starving to death, lonely and thirsty, is about as low as a person can go. You’ve got to have a really warped, disgusting personality to want to do something like that. That really disgusts me.

Do you think it’s important to adopt a dog or cat rather than buying one from a pet store?

Well, I mean, if I was buying a dog, I wouldn’t buy it from a pet shop, I’d go to a rescue shelter. Or I’d go to a friend who couldn’t take care. … It’s not where the dog came from, it’s the dog. … I get really annoyed when people start telling me about the make and the model of their dog like [for] a car. … A dog is a dog, no matter what background they’ve got. … Often, the mutts, the strays have got more personality than a highly bred pedigree.

The final two American Idol contestants, Adam Lambert and Kris Allen, have been chosen to duel it out onstage next week in front of millions of viewers. Sorry Danny Gokey fans, if you taped the show and haven’t watched it yet.

While we love our Idol contestants and are cheering for both, it’s necessary to call one singer out for his choice of clothing.

Lambert wore snakeskin boots during his recent public appearances (look at the feet, click on the pointy arrow so the small pics aren’t covering them up) including the Marine Corps Air Station Miramar in California.

While he may have chosen the right songs every week, according to Simon Cowell, Lambert definitely chose the wrong shoes that day.

Whether it was leather with snakeskin print or real snakeskin hide, neither combination is worth idolizing.

And Lambert didn’t mention anything about the boots being faux, so we can only assume, unfortunately, it’s the real deal.

Just hoping his guyliner comes from a company that doesn’t test on animals.

Maybe Adam will follow the lead of other Idol contestants like Carrie Underwood and go veg, lose the boots, and gain an understanding of the cruelty involved in using animals for clothing.

Until then, he’ll be in our bottom three for awhile.

Although neither Simon Cowell nor Oprah Winfrey are vegetarians, both have experimented with it. Simon tried a vegetarian diet for 1 week and loved Linda McCartney’s meatless sausages. Oprah did a 21 day vegan cleanse with a little advice from author Kathy Freston. Sure would be nice if both of them went back to it. So between the two stars who publicly gave the veggie life a try, who would you rather do…

Update from our post on Sign Carrying Vegans in the American Idol audience!

Liz D. just dropped a tip to let us know that the sign carrying vegan was Isa Chandra Moskowitz of the Post Punk Kitchen!

You kitchen fanatics know Isa from her cookbooks, such as Vegan with a Vengeance and Veganomicon.

We think it’s totally rad that Isa got some face time for carrying her vegan sign! Maybe this will make Simon Cowell reconsider going back on the vegetarian diet he tried for a week years ago.

Anoop Desai walked the plank on American Idol this week because he didn’t receive enough votes.

But just because he didn’t win American Idol, doesn’t mean he’s not being drafted by companies to be a spokesperson.

PETA India thinks Anoop would be perfect to front a campaign on getting pets spayed and neutered.

The group is  asking him to appear in a video supporting its Animal Birth Control (ABC) campaign to “implement humane methods of controlling companion animal populations in slums” in India.

Said N G Jayasimha, campaign manager of PETA India, to IANS:

“Anoop Desai is a huge hit in India because of being an Indian. He is an inspiration. There are sentiments of Indians associated with him and we want him to join the cause like previous ‘American Idol’ Vanessa Olivarez, Kellie Pickler and Ruben Studdard as well as judge Simon Cowell in using his celebrity status to help PETA help animals.”

“We want him to speak up for the dogs on the streets, as they really suffer a lot and need a voice. Though he is now out of the show, but he still has a huge appeal and fan following and we are hoping to ride on that,” he added.

Although we were hoping Anoop would follow his immigrant parents’ vegetarian diet, being an advocate for animals will keep him from being eliminated with our votes.

The UK based music talent search competition, “X Factor,” has some judges on the panel who know how to judge a good diet when they see one.

Danii Minogue, follows a strict organic diet that excludes meat and dairy. And fellow judge Cheryl Cole also follows a mostly vegetarian diet, but eats seafood here and there. For Cole, miso soup and edamame beans have the X factor.

If you remember us telling you, Simon Cowell, king of judging mean and creator of “X Factor” (along with creating the popular series “American Idol”) once tried a vegetarian diet for a week and reported he could not get enough of Linda McCartney’s vegetarian sausages.

“Linda McCartney sausages were my favourite. They’re much better than eating real sausages and you don’t have to contemplate half way through exactly what’s inside them… You can have them, a bit of fried bread, tinned tomatoes. Delicious.”

While Paula may have smiled and said it was their best performance, Randy would definitely have said, “Aw…those veggie sausages were alright, dawg!”
