Pamela Anderson Has Samosas On The Mind When In India

Written by Vegetarian Star on Monday, November 29th, 2010 in Actresses, Food & Drink, Recipes.

Pamela Anderson

Pamela Anderson has already given some love to the Indian dish tikka paneer, and recently she told DNA India there’s another dish the country reminds her of.

“When I think of India, I think of samosas…fabulous country, fabulous food. I love to eat and am so glad India has so many amazing vegetarian options; I had a fun time trying different things.”

When we think of samosas, we think of a delicately crisp crust pocket filled with spiced vegetables like potatoes, peas and onions, dipped in a tangy chutney like tamarind, cilantro or mango.

Pamela Anderson Enjoys Her Taste Of Indian Dish Tikka Paneer

Written by Vegetarian Star on Wednesday, November 17th, 2010 in Actresses, Food & Drink, Recipes.

Pamela Anderson

During her visit to India for the reality TV show “Bigg Boss 4,” Pamela Anderson has fallen in love with Indian food, especially a dish called paneer tikka.

“The food here is really nice. I am a vegetarian and just ate paneer tikka, which was quite spicy,” Anderson said, according to the Times of India.

The dish involves placing pieces of spiced paneer cheese on skewers in a shish-kabob fashion. Paneer cheese, made by curdling heated milk with lemon juice or food acid, is one of the few cheeses that does not involve using rennet, a product from a calf’s stomach, in the processing, making it more suitable for stricter vegetarians.

Pamela Anderson Urges Israel To Ban Fur

Written by Vegetarian Star on Monday, November 8th, 2010 in Actresses, Animal Issues, Fur.

Pamela Anderson would like to meet with Jewish leaders in Israel to persuade them to ban the use of fur in traditional Hasic headwear, reports E! online.

Anderson is visiting the country as a guest judge for its version of “Dancing With The Stars.”

While stating that Israel was a “progressive nation” and an “example for the rest of the world,” the former Baywatch actresses said it’s time for a change when it comes to wearing animals to represent one’s sect.

“It’s almost 2011. There are so many alternatives to things,” she said. “We can be compassionate in our choices.”

A bill that would potentially restrict the use of fur in headwear has been placed on hold due to a large percentage of voters being Hasidic. But some anti-fur organizations have found a large majority of the Israeli public would like to do away with fur completely.

Pamela Anderson is one hot activist. Not just good looking, but “hot,” as in she has a tireless passion for helping both animals and people. The longtime vegetarian has recently announced she’s donating the money from her most recent Playboy Cover shoot to Waves 4 Water, a charity that brings clean drinking water to people who have trouble accessing it.

“Waves 4 water are my heroes,” Anderson told TMZ. “They get things done… and yes, Playboy wrote them a check when I shot the cover directly for 25Gs. I’ve also donated personally. I wish I could do more. Indonesia, Haiti and Pakistan are all in need of these filters. Spread the word!”

Water is something the bottle carrying wealthy and industrialized world takes for granted, but according to Water.org., the liquid necessity is so hard to come by in a sanitized state in other parts of globe, every 20 seconds a child dies from a water-related disease. Water.org provides several other interesting facts on its website.

  • More people in the world have access to cell phones than a toilet.
  • 884 million people lack access to safe water supplies; approximately one in eight people.

This weekend at PETA’s 30th anniversary gala, Pamela Anderson revealed she thinks eating vegan has helped her symptoms of Hepatitis C, a disease she contracted in 2002.

“I have Hepatitis C and I feel great, which I think has a lot to do with my diet,” Anderson said. “I feel better, I always feel healthy, but I feel better.”

A vegetarian diet has been shown to ease several ailments of the liver, including the final stages of liver failure, but one study found a diet in vegetable proteins helped with a condition known as Hepatic Encephalopathy, sometimes a complication of Hepatitis C that is marked by changes in mental processes like brain fogginess, confusion and forgetfulness.

Published in Digestive Diseases and Sciences, the study found that a “vegetable-protein diet resulted in overall clinical improvement, decreased hepatic encephalopathy index scores, decreased arterial ammonia levels, improved performance on intellectual tasks, and in one case, markedly improved protein tolerance.”
