Miles Davis

The Miles Davis exhibit “We Want Miles” is currently on display at the Montreal Museum of Fine Arts at 1380 Sherbrooke St. W. in Montreal, Quebec, Canada.

The photography, art, album covers and artifacts of the famous trumpeter will be on display until August 29, 2010.

Miles and Cicely Tyson were married in 1981, and when Miles suffered a stroke and was temporarily unable to play the trumpet, Tyson mandated a vegetarian diet and Chinese medicine to put him on the road to recovery, according to the Vancouver Sun.

The combination of the diet and Tyson’s recommendations that Miles paint to exercise his fingers allowed him to recover and play again even though doctors were convinced his music career was over.

Black Book Mag caught up with several celebrities at the Why Did I Get Married Too? premiere to find out where they enjoy getting good food in the feature, “Where Celebs Go Out.”

Janet Jackson and Cicely Tyson know where to combine delicious and healthy, as both ladies mentioned vegetarian and vegan restaurants as their favorites.

Janet likes Cafe Sunflower in Atlanta, Georgia as well as Veggieland.

Cicely recommends Pure Food and Wine in LA.

Cicely once said she treats her body like an expensive car, by putting only the best fuel in it.

“I mean, if you have a Rolls-Royce and you pull up to a gasoline station, you don’t put crud in it. You put the most expensive oil and gas in your car. You want it to be treated well in order for it to serve you well. We should start thinking that about this body of ours.”

Since we’ve already featured the mature gentlemen, it’s only fair to do the mature ladies edition. Eighty-two year old Cloris Leachman pitted against 75 year old Cicely Tyson. Leachman has just unveiled her lettuce leaves PETA ad. Tyson says she treats her body like a car, only putting the best veggie fuel in it. We won’t tell you which woman claims to have had “epic sex” with Gene Hackman. You’ll have to dig through the archives to find out. So between the two ladies…who would you rather do?

Cicely Tyson isn’t a woman who takes to lying in bed too well. So she does everything she can to stay healthy, which includes following a strict vegetarian diet.

While talking to the Pittsburgh-Post Gazette, the subject of diet came up for the 75-year old actress who’s played roles in The Autobiography of Miss Jane Pittman, Roots, and Tyler Perry’s Madea. She’s set to star in the Hallmark Channel original movie, Relative Stranger this weekend.

Q: I understand you are a strict vegetarian, and you keep yourself fit.

A: That’s mainly because I am not a good patient. (Laughing.) I do not like not feeling well. We have a tendency to give all the love and care to material things.
