Sunny Obama Bo Obama

The Obama family has one new member.

Sunny, a Portuguese Water dog, was born a little over a year ago and arrived at the White House today.

She’ll be keeping the family and staffers company while providing the older dog Bo–who’s also the same breed–a playmate.

Michelle Obama posted one of the first photos of Sunny on Twitter with the message:

“So excited to introduce the newest member of the Obama family — our puppy, Sunny!”

First Lady Michelle Obama will release a hip hop album that promotes eating vegetables, exercising and staying healthy.

She won’t be doing any rapping on the 19-song collection, but she’s using the affiliation of her “Let’s Move!” campaign to bring together Partnership for a Healthier American and Hip Hop Public Health Foundation to attract several well known artists who will be.

Singers like Run DMC, Doug E. Fresh and vegan Matisyahu will all have spots on Songs for a Healthier America.

Max-Arthur Cat Celebrates Discovery Channel “Shark Week” (Video)

This week The Discovery Channel is once again holding its annual Shark Week. It’s a great time to watch specials about the great creatures and take time to learn facts about their habitats, present threats and just be entertained.

One cat decided to celebrate Shark Week by dressing for the part and hopping a ride on a iRobot Rooma to give that oh-so-spooky shark is coming to get you look.

All that’s missing is the Jaws theme song.

Bon Iver‘s singer Justin Vernon has created a video to promote shoes for Keep Company.

Keep Company specializes in vegan footwear, and both Vernon and the retailer are supporters of Best Friends, one of the United State’s largest sanctuary for rescued, neglected and abused animals.

A parent to two rescue cats himself, Vernon let a few four-legged actors have a spot in the advertisements.

Google Co-Founder Helped Fund Lab Grown Hamburger (Video)

What is being touted as the world’s first lab grown burger was served to several guests in London recently.

Reactions to the “Frankenburger” are mixed.

Some were expecting it be juicier. Another that the texture feels like meat, but without the fatty taste.

Which could be a good thing for the diet-obsessed carnivores who actually like the taste of low-fat products.

One thing’s for sure, the 5 oz. patty would have gone down a lot easier with condiments.

Rip Esselstyn was a guest on CBS This Morning to discuss the benefits of a vegan diet and his latest book, My Beef with Meat.

Many have heard of the firefighter’s famous story of turning his entire station vegan, insisting they eat what he calls “plant-strong.”

The author who described this transformation inĀ The Engine 2 Diet discussed with hosts the benefits of plant-based eating on human health and the planet.

When he discusses issues like heart disease and cholesterol, Esselstyn insists he’s not trying to scare anyone. He simply wants to educate.
