Martha Stewart Side Dishes From “Martha Stewart Living”

Vegetarians have come to loathe side dishes, as the phrase usually means mashed potatoes and green beans are the only items edible during Thanksgiving dinner with the omnivore relatives.

But side dishes don’t have to come from a can and Martha Stewart demonstrated several side salads on Today that can push the iceberg lettuce and French dressing off the table for good.

Gwyneth Paltrow

Her lemonade brings all the boys to the yard and helps prevent animal cruelty at the same time.

Gwyneth Paltrow recently set up a lemonade stand which raised money for the Royal Society for the Prevention of Animal Cruelty.

Paltrow was accompanied by her children Apple and Moses, plus one more addition to the beverage business–a Maltese dog named Daffodil.

“Top Chef” Dale Talde Creates Recipes For Annie Chun’s

Top Chef season 4 and Top Chef All Stars season 8 competitor Dale Talde has teamed up with Annie Chun’s, Inc. to create several Pan-Asian recipes featuring the company’s products.

There are three signature recipes available, and one features a vegetarian dish made with Annie Chun’s Shiitake Soy Ginger Sauce and Soba Noodles with tofu steaks, snap peas and asparagus.

The New York Daily News has featured an article on Erin McKenna, the owner and founder of the popular BabyCakes restaurants in New York and Los Angeles.

McKenna has wowed both celebrities and regular people with her vegan, gluten-free and sugar-free cookies, muffins, cupcakes and other desserts and has recently expanded her empire to Disney World and Rockaway Beach in New York.

Yotam uses these tricks in his vegetable cookbook Plenty, and NPR recently interviewed the chef to learn how he makes magic with vegetables, including not overcooking your greens.

BET, also known as Black Entertainment Television, is a Viacom-owned cable network targeting issues related to African-Americans and has aired popular shows like The Wendy Williams Show, Keyshia Cole’s reality TV series and The Michael Vick Project.

The network’s online component celebrates Meatless Mondays and has included delicious recipes like Sesame Tofu with Eggplant, Spring Green Salad and today’s Meatless Monday recipe, Lentil Tacos.

USDA Kid Recipe Contest Crowns Veggie Recipes Winners

Vegan recipes have stolen the spotlight in the USDA’s Healthy Kids Contest.

Tasty Tots and Central Valley Harvest Bake were the winners in the popular choice award and the dark orange and green vegetable categories, respectively.

Tasty Tots replaces white potatoes with yams and chickpeas for a baked version of the traditional tater tot. Central Valley Harvest Bake pairs quinoa with butternut squash and red bell peppers.
