Written by Vegetarian Star on Thursday, June 25th, 2009 in Models, Reality TV.

Digital Spy Reality TV Awards - Arrivals

Chantelle Houghton gained some extra fame by being a Paris Hilton lookalike, but looks are about where the similarities end.

The Celebrity Big Brother 2006 winner is now following a strict vegan diet, according to a friend, and wants to give other British veg gals like Heather Mills and Leona Lewis a run for their money by launching several lines of  items under her name.

“She’s a strict vegan and is going to launch a new range of food, a make-up range, a perfume and her own swimwear line.”

Go Chantelle.

We hope that not only will Chantelle’s food line be vegan, but she’ll remember to keep her perfume and make-up cruelty free and free from animal products too.

Chantelle is aiming for natural in several areas of her life, including ditching the fake hair, bronze tan, and after battling bulimia, now takes pride in what she calls her new beautiful and womanly figure.

Congratulations on the new and healthier you, Chantelle. Have a piece of vegan cake on us.

Whale Wars Crew Gets In Stinkbomb Showdown

Written by Vegetarian Star on Friday, June 19th, 2009 in Animal Issues, Reality TV, Videos.

A new episode of Whale Wars is on Animal Planet tonight at 9PM EST, and we’ve got some footage of tonight’s episode featuring the greatest prank an adult can do. Best part: it’s all in the name of saving whales.

The Sea Shepherd crew does a lot of tactics to prevent Japanese whalers from killing whales, including throwing stinkbombs on their boat to create a rather…unpleasant experience.

Watch the clip, “Stinkbomb Showdown,” for a trip down memory lane of high school toilet papering the Principal’s home. Wait…you never did that. You were the good kid and would never do something so…wasteful and not environmentally friendly.

Jillian Michaels Goes Almost Vegetarian To Go Green

2005 Summer NBC Television Critics Press Tour - Day 13

Jillian Michaels applies a no frills, tough talking attitude to contestants on The Biggest Loser to get them to lose fat and gain health.

She’s applying that same stringent method to do her part in cleaning up the environment, advocating green living for a better body and has eliminated all animal products except certain types of fish from her diet.

From an interview with treehugger.com:

“I have gone off the deep end on this. I find that when one has the knowledge and the means they have a responsibility to make the ethical choice. With regard to my diet, I always go organic. I shop at local farmers’ markets whenever possible. I have given up all animal products except for fish that has been ethically fished like ocean caught salmon, farmed arctic char, farmed trout, pacific cod, tilapia, crab, shrimp, and farmed oysters. I use all natural beauty products like Olive Oil, brown sugar for scrubs, avocado and ethical organic brands. My cleaning products are all green – and got rid of paper towels almost entirely and use rags instead. I use a Kangen water filter for drinking water and put in stainless steel canteens- never bottled water.”

While we love the fact that Jillian’s reduced her animal consumption dramatically, we’d love to see her kick butt all the way and be completely veg.

Hey, Jillian, why not team up with another pescetarian and do a weekly weigh in-the one with the least amount of fish on the plate wins!

Contestants from the new NBC show Im a celebrity get me out of here give an interview about the upcoming show

“I wanted to smack John for talking trash to the other cast members during the challenge. Just because he is a vegetarian doesn’t mean he can call people names that aren’t. Everyone was aware of what they were eating. They did not need him reminding them every ten seconds, and saying how disgusting it is.”

—-Gina, writer for Realitywanted.com, on John Salley’s attitude about the food on a I’m a Celebrity, Get Me Out of Here challenge. Salley has had his share of comments bleeped out from television. But when you’re looking at your options of cow tongue or bull testicles, it’s hard to keep your opinion to yourself.

So we’re tracking John Salley‘s dietary habits on I’m a Celebrity, Get Me Out of Here, to see how well he sticks to his vegan regime in the jungle.

An early episode had John and Heidi Pratt duking it out in an eating contest that involved a rat’s tail. No points for staying vegan that week, John.

However, on last night’s episode, John was set to compete in yet another contest, jungle worm eating, but quit.

Did the bad press get to him? Or did he just decide it wasn’t worth giving up his principles to be able to smoke Sanjaya?

John lost the lovely privilege of getting to eat leaf cutter ants, bull’s testicle, and cow tongue in the next rounds.

In case you care, Heidi and Spencer quit the show again

“Our objective is to sink the Japanese whaling fleet economically, and for the last three years we’ve cost them their profits. 305 whales saved this year, 500 last year, 500 the year before, and we’re gonna keep this up. As long as we’re persistent — we don’t retreat — I think we can bankrupt them. That’s our objective. ”

It’s almost dinner time for some of you and we’re sorry if you’re reading this before logging off your computer and going home for the day, but still have an hour’s commute to get there.

The second season of Whale Wars premiers today at 9 PM E/P on Animal Planet, so there’s still time to make your own vegan mini-cheeseburgers before the show starts.

Premiere Of International Film Circuits The Hammer - Arrivals

Don’t you hate it when you’re a vegan and you’re forced to eat rat’s tail in an eating contest on some reality TV show? It’s a bummer!

Episode one of I’m a Celebrity, Get Me Out Of Here featured John Salley in an eating competition with Heidi Montag. The treat? Delicious rat tail. Salley swallowed ratatouille booty whole, while Heidi was ladylike and nibbled.

Could the menu on episode one, be the reason Heidi quit?

John Salley, the artist formerly known as vegan, had told several media sources he planned to eat raw and vegan while in the Costa Rica jungle. Rat tail’s raw alright, but definitely not vegan. Unless there’s some fake rodent meat substitute Whole Foods isn’t stocking at the moment.

Episode one and Salley is already breaking his veganness. What do you guys think about the situation? Did Salley naively think he could only eat vegan on the show?
