Best Veggie Stories Of 2008

Written by Vegetarian Star on Wednesday, December 31st, 2008 in Actresses, Chefs, Female Musicians, Female Singers, Models.

Heather Mills Named Honorary Chair Of Hunts Point Alliance For Children

Hope your New Year’s party plans are coming along well and your crib is stocked full of veggie goodies for the big celebration. Every one’s doing a “best of” list for 2008, so it makes sense for us to bring you a few of our favorites, which were some of the most heavily trafficked posts this year. Drum roll please…

Honorable Mention: 111 Year Old Woman Attributed Long Life To Vegetarianism-Aida May was not a celebrity, per se, but she should be a role model to anyone who wants to unlock the key to a long, healthy life!

#5: Kellie Pickler Turned Vegetarian-With the help of Idol alum Carrie Underwood and PETA queen Pamela Anderson, Miss Pickler is now a part of the Idol veg club. Which is a good thing since Ruben Studdard has fallen off the wagon.

#4: Rachael Ray BOB: Rachael Ray’s newest cookbook, Big Orange Book, has an entire chapter devoted towards vegetarian food. She did this after listening to her fans on the road that demanded more of these recipes.

#3: Anne Hathaway Became A Quitter: After an on again/off again relationship with the veg life, soon after Anne dumped her con ex boyfriend, she picked up tofu again.

#2: Pamela Anderson Tries Vegan KFC: Pammie visited a KFC in her home country of Canada, which now serves a vegan faux chicken patty. It won’t make every one happy, but it is a significant step towards making vegan food available in mainstream restaurants.

#1: Heather Mills Donates A Million Dollars Worth Of Veggie Food To Charity: Because everyone deserves the opportunity to eat vegetarian food, regardless of socio-economic status. Heather did a wonderful deed by donating veggie burgers, veggie dogs, and all sorts of goodies-she even showed up at an event to grill some of it.

Heather Mills Will Cook For You

Written by Vegetarian Star on Tuesday, December 30th, 2008 in Food & Drink, Models.

Heather Mills Named Honorary Chair Of Hunts Point Alliance For Children

Heather Mills has been quiet these past few months, but she’s back on the scene hoping to silence you by stuffing you full of vegan food.

Paul McCartney’s ex is participating in a charity auction where she has promised to cook the winners “a healthy yummy amount of food,” according to Charity Buzz. The only catch is you have to follow her around for an entire day and listen to her talk to you about healthy vegan diet tips. Not too bad for a home cooked vegan meal!

While the two lucky winners are visiting alternative health clinics with Heather in either New York or London, she will share diet and life skills, such as stress management. At the end of the day, it’s pig out time, vegan style!

The auction benefits New York Coalition For Healthy School Food (NYCHSF), a nonprofit that’s trying to get the junk off children’s plates, both in the school cafeteria and at home. NYCHSF advocates plant based and local and organic foods as well as educate students on nutrition. Good for them, for advocating plant based foods. We hear they’re still teaching some baloney (bad pun) about meat being one of the main food groups.

You have until January 8 to bid on a day with Heather. Hope you win and if you do, you’ll have to give us your opinion on her cooking. We need to know, in case she ever decides to finally come out with her vegan food line.

Who Would You: Lauren Bush Or Chelsea Clinton

Written by Vegetarian Star on Wednesday, December 24th, 2008 in Fashion, Models, Politicians, Polls/Surveys, Who Would You.

Lauren Bush is the niece of George W. If you don’t know who Chelsea’s mom and dad are…you probably haven’t been awake enough during these past years to even vote in our poll. Relations to the right, relations to the left, both know what’s right when it comes to putting vegetarian food on their plates. So who would you…

Imogen Bailey Wanted To Be Lawyer, Now Looking To Act

Imogen Bailey poses for PETA Ad

One vegetarian star is retiring from the film business, one is hoping to make her debut.

Imogen Bailey is looking to launch a career as an actress.

The vegetarian model has graced the cover of several magazines, including Ralph, FHM, ZOO Weekly, Playboy and Black+White Magazine.

She’s also competed in reality TV shows, including “Celebrity Big Brother” and “Celebrity Survivor”, where she won third place.

Perhaps our favorite modeling gigs she’s done are the ones for PETA, such as the one pictured here.

Not to mention she’s super-smart, participated in some highly intelligent nerdy after school activities, and had plans to go to law school. “As a little girl I wanted to be a lawyer. I loved debating and was on all the debating teams,” she told the Sydney Morning Herald.

Loved debating and arguing? No wonder she’s so opinionated and has no problem lending herself to animal rights organizations. At home, she shares space with three Maltese terriers and describes each of them “deaf,” “blind,” and “pure evil.”

Kira Eggers Wrestles With Tofu, Helps Educate About Impotence

Tofu wrestling: girls, bikinis, and tofu—need we say more?
Watch more videos at LettuceLadies.com.

Another hyper sexual advertisement from Peta. This features model and playmate  Kira Eggers wrestling in tofu. In between shots, interesting facts about tofu are inserted such as “Tofu doesn’t cause impotence like artery clogging meat does.”

This fact alone, we’re sure will cause most men to log off their computers and rush to buy a block of  Nasoya before getting the chance to learn all the other interesting facts, such as it contains multiple cancer fighting agents. Oh, well. One health problem tackled at a time.

Model Petra Nemcova Writes About Making A Difference

Written by Vegetarian Star on Thursday, October 23rd, 2008 in Authors, Models.

2008 Princess Grace Awards Gala Celebrity Arrivals In NYC

Supermodel Petra Nemcova realized she could make a difference with the depleting fish population, so she turned vegan and told the world about it.

Once Can Make a Difference debuted in the bookstores a couple of weeks ago and it’s a great read that every vegetarian/vegan/celebrity lover should pick up. Amazon’s only a click away, so you don’t even have to leave your home to do so.

Ingrid Newkirk, President and Founder of PETA, has compiled essays from celebrities such as Willie Nelson, Petra Nemcova and Kevin Bacon as well as unknown individuals who are taking action in life to better the world. To introduce the essays, Ingrid writes a powerful and motivating statement:

By including both the “known” and the “unknown,” I hope this book illustrates (a) that even those we admire from afar invariably face obstacles and have to find ways to keep their belief alive and (b) that you don’t have to be a household name to make a difference, to become an example to others; you just need to have a conviction.

An example of such “unknown” acts include a college student who collects change between the furniture in the dorms and donates the money to charity.

So put this on your holiday shopping lists everyone. If we go out and buy One Can Make a Difference the day after Thanksgiving, we’ll turn Black Friday into a greener one.

Heather Mills Wants Gardein In Vegan Food Line, Cookbook To Follow

Written by Vegetarian Star on Wednesday, October 22nd, 2008 in Food & Drink, Models.

Farm Sanctuary's 2008 Gala

Much talk has taken place about Heather Mills starting her own vegan food line. It was rumored she wanted the headquarters in Chicago. Then, she insisted on keeping the name of her food line top secret, until October. C’mon Heather, it’s the middle of the month. Don’t leave us hangin’!

Now at least we’re hearing more about what she wants to put in it. Like Emily Deschanel, Heather likes the idea of using Gardein as a meat substitute, and would like to partner with the company to produce entrees completely free of meat and dairy.

She may also give us everyday folk some secrets to making meals from scratch, according to a source for The Daily Mail.

We’re wondering how good of a cook Heather makes. Don’t know if she’s had any formal experience as a chef (although many celebrity chefs don’t). Would you guys buy her cookbook?

And what sorts of meals do you think she should include in her line? No one on staff has had any experience with Gardein meat. Any opinions?

Shanna Moakler Wouldn’t Eat “Biscuit” Or Any Other Animal

Written by Vegetarian Star on Monday, October 13th, 2008 in Actresses, Children, Models, Videos.

Chevy Rocks The Future - Arrivals

Shanna Moakler has released her vegetarian testimonial and what a cute co-star she has in it! Okay, there are two cute co-stars, one being her child, but there’s a non-human animal co-star named Biscuit getting his/her two seconds of fame as well.

Interestingly, she is the ex-wife of Travis Barker, ex Blink 182 drummer who recently survived a horrible plane crash. Wonder what her thoughts are about his newfound meat eating practices he feels he must take on to heal faster?

Watch Moakler make the connection between the animals in our homes and the ones people eat. “You wouldn’t eat Biscuit,” Moakler says, referring to the talks she has with her daughter about being vegetarian.  No, we wouldn’t eat biscuit, but we’d sure like to dog sit for a day or two!
