Vegan restaurant Real Food Daily has partnered with Lexus to launch the car company’s new hybrid CT 200h.

Real Food Daily founder Ann Gentry won the opportunity to partner with the company after submitting a video on going vegan as a solution for a greener future in the Lexus Eco Village challenge. Gentry’s answer, as you might expect, was to eat vegan.

Mary McCartney‘s favorite vegetarian snack is an old standby–peanut butter and jelly, something she learned to love from watching Sesame Street.

And although PB & J sandwiches make a great item to carry in school lunches, McCartney says she doesn’t force her lifestyle on her children, even though they have chosen to be vegetarian.

“They don’t have to be,” McCartney said. “It would be their choice. I don’t like to force it on people. I don’t like to be told what to do, so I don’t like to tell them what to do.”

PB & J may be older than Big Bird, but there are numerous variations of the sandwich you can try when things get boring.

Cat Cora has a morning regime we all could benefit from–breakfast that consists of vitamin rich fruits and vegetables, omega rich nuts and heart healthy soy.

“We do protein smoothies in the morning,” the chef told WebMD. “Here’s how to make them: Add some fresh baby spinach, frozen mango chunks, five or six almonds, a little soy milk, a little juice if you like, some protein powder, and blend it up. Delicious! We love it around the house. We call it a Shrek drink to get the boys to drink it. And they do!”

Might we suggest using Tony Gonzalez‘s All-Pro-Science vegan protein powder from hemp, pea and brown rice protein in Cora’s shake?

“Like oil, meat is subsidized by the federal government. Like oil, meat is subject to accelerating demand as nations become wealthier, and this, in turn, sends prices higher. Finally — like oil — meat is something people are encouraged to consume less of, as the toll exacted by industrial production increases, and becomes increasingly visible.”

The event raised $250,00 for the Eagle Academy Foundation, which supports three New York City schools for the young men.

Providing the food was Acquolina Catering, which served fried tofu with cilantro sauce and Portobello burger and chocolate mousse–all vegan items.

Two of the schools boast an 85% graduate rate for the students, compared to the average of 50% for African-American and Latino men in other schools in the region.

James Beard Would Be Proud Of Vegan Creations At James Beard House

The vegan dinner prepared by the Horizon’s chef at the The Beard House of the James Beard Foundation was a hit, according to blogger at green gossip site Ecorazzi.

“…a shallow bowl of mustard croutons and upland cress was filled with warm, savory Sunchoke and Horseradish Bisque. Paired nicely with a 2008 Pfaffenheim Pinot Blanc, I’m quite sure nobody noticed the lack of shellfish or heavy cream. Yes, it was the kind of soup that could make even the most humble vegan quietly whisper, ā€œI told you so.””

Ecorazzi then goes on the question what Beard would have thought of the vegan feast, concluding he would have been impressed. Vegan food is usually the most sustainable out there, and according to some sources, it would have aligned well with Beard’s ethics.

Lea Michele Feels Bad For Eating Fish

The fact that Lea Michele calls herself a vegan, but still occasionally eats fish does annoy. After all, we’re only asking that she use to word pescatarian and avoid the Eco-Worst ones.

However, the Glee actress doesn’t consume Charlie without guilt, as Ok! magazine reported her as saying, “I feel bad about it because fish are animals too.”

Michele has previously stated the reason for her fishy breath was due to protein issues, but we can mouth off several dozen that don’t swim.

Any suggestions?
