“Sometimes less is s’more,” begins Bobby Deen during an episode of Not My Mama’s Meals, a show where he does healthier versions of Paula Deen‘s classic southern recipes.

“Mine only have 214 calories and just 17 grams of fat,” he says of his healthier version of the marshmallow and graham cracker snack featuring bananas.

Deen’s visit to the Sweet and Sara kitchen where the world’s best vegan s’mores are manufactured taught him a little s’more about desserts–how to make them without butter.

Cupcake Wars

Cupcake Wars recently featured the North Carolina based vegan friendly bakery Maddy’s Fatty’s.

Madeline Baucom and her sister-in-law Enza Friedman came in second on the episode that honored the CBS soap opera The Young and the Restless and its 10,000th episode.

The challenge was to bake 1,000 cupcakes for a party celebrating the milestone.

ABC’s Nightline recently featured a segment on the numerous ag-gag laws making their way through Congress.

“Would you like to see where your dinner came from?” asked Bill Weir during the episode.

Executive Director for the animal welfare group Mercy for Animals Nathan Runkle made an appearance to discuss the laws that seek to make hidden camera investigations on factory farms illegal. It is a move that many activists feel would hamper whistle blowers who out acts of animal cruelty.

In a recent Tweet, the vegan blogger told fans she’s not normally gluten-free, but she’s giving it up for the Christian holiday that asks followers to give up an item or two for a period of six weeks.

“Duck Dynasty” Creates Carrot Call For Vegetarians (Video)

Morrissey cancelled his appearance on Jimmy Kimmel Live because he was opposed to the late night host inviting members from the series Duck Dynasty, a show about a group of people who sell duck hunting tools.

In response, the duck hunters have humorously created a set of hunting tools for vegetarians, Carrot Call and Broccoli Trap.

“CBS This Morning” Features Dr. Neal Barnard (Video)

Dr. Neal Barnard was a guest on CBS This Morning.

Dr. Barnard discussed the impact of Alzheimer’s disease on millions of Americans and what can be done to prevent it.

“There’s nothing more frightening than losing your memory and your connections. Most people have thought, well, it’s just part of aging and I’m going to spend the last 5 or 10 years of my life not knowing anybody,” said Dr. Barnard.

“The beautiful news is we now know what seems to be triggering that so that we can avoid it.”
