Whitney Port, narrator and cast member of The City and known for her role in The Hills, discovered even a restaurant known for its burgers can whip up something creative sans flesh.

Port dined with friends at Bill’s Bar & Burger in New York, but while her company ate burgers and wings, Port reportedly enjoyed the veggie burger without sauce.

Does this mean Port’s not a fan of roasted red pepper? Cause we sure are and think some homemade pepper sauciness would go great over a homemade veggie burger.

The Market Veggie Burger on Bill’s Menu contains lettuce, tomato, Swiss cheese and roasted red pepper sauce.

Paul McCartney Nancy Shevell

Paul McCartney and Nancy Shevell were spotted at Phillipe restaurant in New York sharing vegetarian fare during what People called a romantic dinner. Wonder if the pair opted for lettuce wraps or chose to get steamy early in the evening.

Phillipe, which has restaurants in New York city, Los Angels, Miami and the Hamptons, features a “Steamed” menu with seasonal vegetables that come with or without tofu.

A nice way to eat veggies as a switch from raw or fried, as steaming some of them, like carrots, zucchini and broccoli, may preserve antioxidants.

The restaurant offers raw, vegan food such as soups, salads and sandwiches and is owned by Karyn Calabrese, a vegan for 30 years who appeared on The Oprah Show on a segment on anti-aging.

Common and the fam dined on squash soup, a portobello sandwich and a vegetable wrap. Karyn’s lunch menu indicates the butternut squash soup is also gluten-free and contains chickpeas for an extra protein punch.

Tobey Maguire was spotted nibbling on vegetable Tempura at Tao Restaurant in New York City. As a supporter of the Healthy School Meals Act, could he want fried green veggies replacing french fries on school cafeteria menus?

Tao wraps numerous veggies in batter, such as onions, sweet potatoes, asparagus, onions, eggplant and even avocado.

Some tempura batters contain egg, as Vegan Yum Yum points out, but you can easily replace it with a substitute like Ener-g and fry, fry, away. When heating oil suitable for high heat, like Safflower, how can you tell the oil is hot enough before you dip? Vegan Yum Yum says to watch for the fireworks.

“When you drop a batter coated veggie in, little bits of batter will explode off the veggie outward like tempura fireworks. These bits, called tenkasu, are a good indication that your batter is hot enough.”

Get more tips for your homemade veggie tempura, including a recipe at Vegan Yum Yum.

Ron Artest was said to have eaten a late night vegan dinner after the game in Staples Center where the Lakers beat the Phoenix Suns 128-107 on Monday.

The forward/shooting guard worked with animal rights group, People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals, in a campaign to spay and neuter pets after he experienced a series of incidents where authorities had to remove dogs from his home.

Artest cited PETA as the organization that helped turn him around and taught him how to care properly for his animals.
