Larry Hagman Solar Energy Ads For Solar World (Video)

Written by Vegetarian Star on Friday, August 27th, 2010 in Actors, Business, Environment-Eco-Green, Household, Videos.

Larry Hagman played a character completely opposite of himself in the prime time television soap opera series, Dallas. J.R. Ewing was an oil baron while Hagman is as green as green can be, following a vegetarian diet and running his home on solar power. Hagman stars in a series of advertisements for Solar World, a manufacturer for solar panels.

Ironically, one of the ads plays on Hagman’s role as Ewing, when it has Hagman saying, “In the past, it was always about the oil. The oil was flowing and so was the money…I quit years ago. But I’m still in the energy business. There’s always a better alternative. Shine, baby shine.”

Solar World manufactures solar panels for both homes and business and government. It employs over 2,700 people, has manufacturing facilities in both USA and Germany and sales offices around the world. More ads can be viewed below.

David Hasselhoff

Comedy Central presented The Roast of David Hasselhoff, where the famous took jabs, made wisecracks and downright humiliated the actor about his life, including some of the more embarrassing moments, like the video that made its way on the Internet of him lying on the floor drunk trying to eat a cheeseburger.

Former Baywatch actress and fellow castmate Pamela Anderson was present and she took the video as the opportunity to state her pro-vegetarian views.

“David, I have to say, when I saw the video of you lying on the floor — drunk, broken down, cheeseburger meat falling from your mouth — I felt so sad. For that cow.”

The video incident caused David to later reveal to the public he was a recovering alcoholic, which Anderson took a shot at as well.

“David took his role on Baywatch very seriously. You know, one time I actually saw him rescue a real person who was drowning. David rescued the man, pulled him ashore, gave him mouth-to-mouth…and, of course, the man immediately died of alcohol poisoning.”

The clip of Anderson’s jokes from the roast can be viewed below.

Written by Vegetarian Star on Thursday, August 12th, 2010 in Actors, Food & Drink, Recipes.

Brandon Routh

Brandon Routh plays a vegan with telekinesis powers in Scott Pilgrim Vs. The World, as it sure sounds like this guy has some super vegan cooking powers in real life.

According to an interview with Maxim, Routh has developed an egg and dairy allergy over the years, so he’s learned to modify one of his favorite foods and sometimes makes vegan pancakes.

Maxim: So you like pancakes?
Routh: I love pancakes. Always have. When I was growing up back in Iowa, we used to have breakfast for dinner. It was the one thing my dad was good at doing, so if Mom was busy he’d make us pancakes.

Routh: I’ve actually gotten a taste for vegan pancakes. I think the vegan ones I make are as good or better than the ones with eggs, butter, and milk.”

Isaiah Mustafa Jay Leno Talk Vegan On “The Tonight Show” (Video)

Isaiah Mustafa

Isaiah Mustafa, the Old Spice Man, told the New York Post one of the top secrets to being a great man (in addition to never using pick up lines and keeping up with your man-icure) was eating healthy. Although he admitted to loving steaks and burgers, he’s on a vegan cleanse that doesn’t even allow caffeine.

“I pretty much eat lentils and certain types of tofu,” Mustafa said, adding that he couldn’t wait for it to end. But a recent appearance on The Tonight Show with Jay Leno along with previous reports, reveals Mustafa is mainly peeved about his gluten-filled goodies.

“Here’s the tough one: no gluten.”

If that’s all he’s worried about, then maybe Old Spice Man will bring back whole wheat pasta and add some seitan to his manly life–leaving the unmanly animal flesh behind for good!

Watch a clip from Mustafa’s visit to The Tonight Show below.

“It’s certainly putting veganism, veganity we call it in this movie, the vegan lifestyle is put out there. Todd isn’t necessarily the nicest promoter of the vegan lifestyle but it speaks well of it to say that you get the power of telekinesis and superpowers because you’re more clear, you’re more healthy, all of those things. So I think that they all have a good sense of humor.”

Brandon Routh, on how he thinks vegans react to the Scott Pilgrim vs. The World movie in which he plays a vegan ex boyfriend who uses superpowers the diet gives him to fight Scott Pilgrim.
