You know you’re finally a vegan when you no longer cheat and lick the spoon when making cookie dough with dairy.

Or when you don’t lick the spoon after making tuna fish sandwich.

That’s what Davina Reeves, Miss New York USA, was accustomed to before she made the switch.

Now she still makes her boyfriend’s tuna sandwich, but he’s the only one of the duo that eats Charlie.

Reeves made the decision to change her diet after suffering from several health issues and skin flare ups, according to IEatGrass.

Reeves hooked up with a vegan chef who suggested she meet with a nutritionist who taught her to combine complex carbs with plant based protein and non dairy calcium.

“Playing around with new restaurants or cooking new recipes. It’s kinda fun to think food of a beautiful gift. I think, “What can I find?” said Reeves.

Reeves will make an appearance at a free workshop on Holistic Living at the New York Open Center on May 1 at 7:30 PM to share her stories of health and healing.

Vanessa Williams was surprised to find out there were so many harmful ingredients in bath and beauty products.

Celebrity Baby Scoop quoted her as saying, “I’ve been a vegetarian and a devotee of holistic medicine for years. But nothing prepared me for the… harmful toxic chemicals that are in our cosmetics and shampoos… I was trying to get rid of everything in my house that had sodium lauryl sulfates, parabens, and other chemicals.”

You’ve made the decision to stop eating or eat less meat and are finally weening yourself off dairy.

You buy organic produce, nothing white goes in your stomach and think trans fat is a word so dirty, the FCC should ban it.

So why are you still using lotion with polyethylene glycol, otherwise known as PEG, a class of compounds in moisturizers that enhance the penetration of ingredients besides moisture–like heavy metals.

A trip to the Cosmetics Database and typing your favorite shampoo or brand may give you a valuable lesson and make you rethink what soap to buy next week.

Zynga Employee Perks Include Vegan Cookies, Bring Dog To Work

Work place perks are what really keep employees punching the clock everyday.

Maybe that’s why Zynga has a voluntary attrition rate of less than 1%.

As part of the package, the online gaming company allows its employees to bring their dogs to work and gives free vegan cookies and coconut water as snacks.

There’s also free reflexology services and haircuts.

Zynga is named after Chief Executive Mark Pincus’ American bulldog who died in 2008 that would curl up by his feet at the office.

With a company so animal friendly, makes you wonder why dog fighting was ever included in the latest edition of Mafia Wars.

Orianthi To Host YouTube Vegan Cooking Show?

Written by Vegetarian Star on Friday, April 30th, 2010 in Female Musicians, Female Singers, Food & Drink.

Orianthi Performs a Free Show at the Hard Rock Cafe at Universal CityWalk

Could an online cooking show be the next step in guitar guru Orianthi‘s next career?

The musician who is supporting John Mayer on his Australian tour told 9 News she could incorporate unplugged tunes with vegan cookies.

“I was sort of thinking about doing some mini cooking things on YouTube – like a musical cooking thing,” Orianthi said.

“I’d cook and then as I’m waiting for it to bake in the oven I’d play a few songs and then I’ll go back and check on it.”

“(If it’s) not quite ready yet, I’d play another song.”

Music and good food usually keeps a crowd together longer, so marketing wise, she’s not too far off from a great idea.

She’ll need to have the 1-800 number frequently displayed throughout the segment, so viewers can order the already made varieties.

“I bring cookies and vegan cupcakes to rehearsals … I should probably sell my cookies at the merch (merchandise) booth.”

Leona Lewis doesn’t like getting buzzed and has branded the idea of people needing to get drunk to have a good time, “ridiculous.”

This was revealed during her interview with In Style UK, where she said she prefers to have a Red Bull instead.

“I don’t drink. I haven’t for years it tastes like hairspray to me – I can have a great time without alcohol. I don’t need that to get me up on the dancefloor, I’m there already. I’ll sometimes have a little Red Bull. That’s my little buzz.”

Non-alcoholic partiers will be happy to know that, unlike many alcoholic drinks, Red Bull contains no animal products or derivatives and is suitable for vegetarians and vegans.

According to the website’s FAQ, Red Bull is vegan, Kosher, Halal, wheat-free, gluten-free and dairy free.

And that rumor about the taurine coming from the bull’s testicles?

That’s bulls–t!

“The taurine in Red Bull Energy Drink is a purely synthetic substance produced by pharmaceutical companies and is not derived from animals or animal materials. All ingredients for Red Bull Energy Drink are synthetically produced by pharmaceutical companies. This guarantees the highest quality.”

What a great reason to stay sober!

What do Laura Bell Bundy and Natalie Portman have in common?

They both were involved in the off-broadway show Ruthless! The Musical.

Bundy played the role of Tina Denmark and Portman and Britney Spears were her understudies.

But Bundy and Portman had nothing in common when it came to food, as she told the Huffington Post, “We were actually good friends and had sleepovers. She was a vegetarian at 10 years old and I liked chicken on the bone. So we deferred a little bit in our eating choices, but we were very good friends, and we’d put on pageants and we’d make crank calls and we did all kinds of stuff.”

Any chance of Bundy calling up fellow country music ladies Carrie Underwood and Kellie Pickler and asking them to share a seitan recipe every now and then?

The Green Lounge Benefit Santa Monica

Moby credits his mother for turning him on to veganism and animal rights, as he told Vegetarian Times she tried to “sneak tofu into my food and I would be outraged.”

Moby eventually learned to love the life his mother was trying to impress on him and as we approach Mother’s Day, model and eco friendly beauty products entrepreneur Josie Maran also thanks her mother for bringing her up environmentally friendly.

“My mom is my role model for being green,” Maran said, and revealed that earlier that afternoon she had shown her own daughter how to plant produce in the garden.

Do you have your mother to thank for being vegetarian and green?
