Michael Jackson Honored By Hindus For Vegetarianism

So, aside from those chicken eating allegations by Magic Johnson, Michael Jackson tried to live a vegetarian lifestyle.

He’s being honored for this, and several other lifestyle choices by his Hindu fans.

“According to reports, he was reading India’s first Nobel laureate Rabindranath Tagore’s poems during the last days of his life and he collaborated with Oscar winner A. R. Rahman,” said Hindu statesman Rajad Zed. “He reportedly learned how to meditate and was vegetarian.”

Michael’s Hindu fans dedicated a pind-daan ritual to him at the holy city of Bodh Gaya as part of last week’s pitrapaksh festivities.

The ceremony was conducted at the Vishnupad Temple on the banks of the Falgu River in Bihar, and led by a priest, who is a devotee of Michael.

Zed added, “Several celebrities have offered prayers here in the past for the salvation of their ancestors, including the Bollywood superstar Shatrughan Sinha.”

“Hindus believe that pind-daan, performed during the fortnight long pitrapaksh period, brings relief to departed souls. Around one million people from all over the world congregate in Bodh Gaya for pind-daan annually. After taking bath in a nearby kund (reservoir), the pilgrims perform pind-daan, involving religious rites for the peace of souls of one’s parents and ancestors.”

Looks like fans all over the world are still celebrating, grieving, and remembering one of the greatest pop stars ever.

Recording Academy Hosts GRAMMY Salute to Country Music Honoring Vince Gill

Country music handsome chap Brad Paisley likes vegan food!

Although he still has his share of chicken tikka masala and fried lamb fritters at the Indian buffets, Brad’s developed a taste for Real Food Daily, thanks to his wife, actress Kimberly Williams, who’s had roles in According to Jim and We Are Marshall.

Brad told latimes.com:

“Another place we love to hit is Real Food Daily in Santa Monica. I would never have walked into a vegetarian restaurant before I met my wife. I was raised in West Virginia, and a well-balanced meal meant French fries and a hamburger. But now I’ll order a portabello mushroom burger on a nine-grain bun and it’s an awesome sandwich.”

Awesome!

Any time spent at vegan restaurants in Time Well Wasted, Brad.

Meatless Mouthful: Bobby Rock On Vegan World Transition

“Regarding people, it’s all about transition. Just like any technology or product that is replaced by a better or newer one, there is always a transition that happens. The old (animal products) company would gradually let people go as the demand for their products decreases, while the new (vegan products/plant-based foods) company would gradually hire more folks as their demand increases. Of course, sometimes it’s messy, and there’s a disproportionate amount of firings to hirings. But this transition will NOT happen overnight. So I think we would see a gradual shift as described here.”

“Regarding animals, there are two main points to remember; the only reason we have the 15+ billion farm animals going through the system each year is because humans have gone to tremendous extremes to unnaturally breed these animals. So, again, as the demand lessens, so will their extreme “quotas” of reproduction.”

“Also, the overwhelming majority of these billions are chickens, and if a chicken has been raised as a “broiler” for food, then their life span would typically be only one year, presuming they were spared a trip to the slaughterhouse in this transition scenario. But truthfully, I think the transition will be gradual enough that they will cut back on the rate of breeding long before they would have all of these farm animals just hanging around somewhere.”

Rob Zombie “El Superbeasto” Daniel Roebuck Portrayal

Written by Vegetarian Star on Saturday, September 26th, 2009 in Actors, Film & TV.

Premiere Of Dimension Films' "Halloween II" - Arrivals

Actor Daniel Roebuck has worked with Rob Zombie in several movies, including Devil’s Rejects, Halloween, Halloween 2 and The Haunted World of El Superbeasto.

In El Superbeasto, Daniel was a little surprised to see his voiced lent animated character from Devil’s Rejects, TV talk show host Morris Green, was a little portlier than he thought.

”The first time Rob showed it to me I said, ‘Could I be any fatter?’ My perception of myself is that I’m just a tall guy,” says Roebuck with a laugh. ”But Rob Zombie, this skinny vegetarian, sees me as a big-faced, fat behemoth.”

Ah, don’t feel bad Daniel.

Maybe a little less meat in your diet would take off that 10 pounds the camera-even if animated-puts on.

Vegetarians do tend to be 10-20 pounds lighter than meat eaters.

And even if it doesn’t, you’ll feel healthier anyway.

Nobody, written and directed by Rob Perez, (40 Days and 40 Nights) is about an art student named Lindeman struggling to find himself.

Through his discovery, Lindeman lands himself into various ridiculous situations.

One scene in Nobody features a vegan revolution, which was filmed in Minneapolis, Minnesota outside a place called Porky’s, located near Minneapolis College of Art and Design.

Porky’s menu features…uh, let the name speak for itself, along with burgers and other meaty items.

Our imaginations can only wander as we think of what might take place during the veg revolution.

Nobody premiers October 2.
