Carrie Underwood Wants It Everyday!

Celebrities attend the Clive Davis Pre - Grammy Gala

Carrie Underwood had previously mentioned she wanted a  home cooked vegetarian meal for Valentine’s Day.

Scratch that. She wants it everyday. Uh, a home cooked vegetarian meal, that is…sometimes you gotta elaborate.

American Idol alumnus said she really doesn’t like Valentine’s Day and that couples should show their love every day of the year, according Lime Life.

“I’m anti-Valentine’s Day. I don’t believe – and this goes for anybody – your man shouldn’t love you for one day out of 365. He should love you 365 days out of the year. I want Valentine’s Day every day.”

She has said before that she’d choose animals over men, because a good dog was much easier to find than a good man. Looks like she found another good dog to spend the day with.

She traveled with her rat terrier this past Valentine’s Day.

Hope they got lots of snuggling in.

Kareena Kapoor Sexiest, But Why Do People Care?

Written by Vegetarian Star on Sunday, February 15th, 2009 in Actresses, Bollywood.

People sometimes harp that the PETA ads for vegetarianism have little to do with eating vegetables and more with objectifying woman. Now one their “Sexiest” is even questioning the point of the contests.

“I fail to understand who makes these lists?” Kapoor said after receiving the India Today Woman Award presented by Erin Brockovich. Yes, THE Erin Brockovich, the real life busty and brainy woman who Julia Roberts played in the 2000 movie based on the real story of how an everyday gal exposed a company for their anti-environmental practices.

“Instead of featuring on these lists, I would rather receive awards such as the India Today Woman Award,” Kareena added.

Kapoor was a winner in the arts category, who said this of her achievements.

“I believe in inner strength-that’s why I was able to reach where I am. There may be competition and negativity but if you have an inner belief you can reach your goals and fulfil your dreams.”

Heather Mills: Builders Can’t Be Choosers

Written by Vegetarian Star on Friday, February 13th, 2009 in Models.

Farm Sanctuary's 2008 Gala

The story we posted about Kristen Bell cooking chicken in her crock pot for her roommates even though she herself is a vegetarian makes for some discussion: Do you think most vegetarians are opposed to cooking meat, even when it’s for someone they know personally? What if a vegetarian had a company or employees to look after? Would all the company parties be veg?

When Heather Mills treated the staff of builders on her Sussex home to a Christmas feast,  the workers were a little disappointed to learn the meal was vegan.

Monster and Critics reported one of them saying, “We couldn’t believe we were getting a slap-up meal. But it’s all strictly vegetarian – they’ve just shaped the stuff to look like turkey. What’s the point of that?”

The workers took it all in good stride, since Heather was at least serving enough alcohol for them to wash the Tofurky taste from their mouths.

“We will choke it down. After all, Heather’s not against alcohol. Apparently there’s going to be plenty to drink.”

Heather is a staunch vegan, so it would have been strange to hear she was serving meat for them. But what about the rest of you? If you were in Heather’s position, or if you were treating a staff of your employees or contractors, would you force the vegginess on them for that meal?

Michael Stipe Championed Veg Food At The Grill In Georgia

Written by Vegetarian Star on Friday, February 13th, 2009 in Food & Drink, Male Musicians, Male Singers.

R.E.M. Performs In Naples

We learned earlier that R.E.M. musicians Michael Stipe and Peter Buck have “code words” for requesting vegetarian food at events.

But it’s not anything new for the Star Me Kitten dudes to speak out when it comes to making sure herbivores have something on the menu for them.

The Grill in Athens, Georgia is a burger and fries, milkshake joint. But when Stipe frequented there in the early 80s when he was a student at the University of Georgia, he made some noise about putting vegetarian items on the menu. It worked and the restaurant still has an extensive vegetarian menu, featuring tofu dogs, fake bacon B.L.T., and veggie wraps.

The Grill is considered a landmark in Athens and has recently turned over its hands to a worker who flipped burgers as an employee for 12 years, Mike Bradshaw, because the most recent previous owner, Jeff Weinberg, didn’t want his joint turning into a Five Guys or Johnny Rockets or other grease fest chain store.

Thank goodness The Grill isn’t losing its veggie religion. There are no plans to change a thing, including the menu.

Tobey Maguire And Ruby Enjoy Real Happy Food At Real Food Daily

Written by Vegetarian Star on Thursday, February 12th, 2009 in Actors, Children, Food & Drink.

**EXCLISUVE** Tobey Maguire spends some quality time with daughter Ruby Sweetheart and a friend in LA

If you crawl up buildings like Spiderman to stalk Tobey Maguire, then you should be crawling along Real Food Daily often, as this man never seems to get enough of it.

The actor who’s expecting another baby with his wife Jennifer Meyer this spring was spotted with his daughter, Ruby, and a friend picking up some food from the vegan restaurant.

Looks like Ruby had a ton of fun!

So awesome that little Ruby is getting to experience healthy eating with dad at such a young age. In a world where kids think a Happy Meal is one of the basic food groups, good to know Ruby’s growing up with the good stuff.

Andy Serkis Won’t Use Rings Of Force On Children

Written by Vegetarian Star on Tuesday, February 10th, 2009 in Actors, Children, Food & Drink.

Andy Serkis is one of those fish eating vegetarians (thanks to playing Gollum while filming Lord of the Rings in New Zealand), who used to be completely vegetarian, but like Diane Keaton, isn’t forcing the lifestyle on his children.

“We [he and his wife] tried to bring our children up vegetarian and it was fine until they start mixing with other kids and going back to the houses and having hot dogs,” he told Babble.

“Rather than kind of going “You’re not going to eat hot dogs,” we said they can wait until they can make their mind up and let them decide where they want to go. It’s kind of pointless to push them at this point. I know that there are great parents who are very good and manage that side of it well, but that’s not the way it’s gone for us.”

At least he and his wife won’t have to worry about raising any Aisha Tylers.

The actor plays a villain named Capricorn who escapes the fantasy world of storybooks and enters reality in his most recent movie Inkheart.

Cybill Shepherd Tried Faking It

Written by Vegetarian Star on Tuesday, February 10th, 2009 in Actresses, Food & Drink, Not So Vegetarian.

Rachael Ray Welcomes Cybill Shepherd To Her Show

Recently Bruce Springsteen announced he regrets making a deal with Wal-Mart to exclusively sell his Greatest Hits CD because the company has so many issues with workers’ rights, something he’s long been a champion for.

Springsteen isn’t the first celebrity to sign an inappropriate pact with a company who’s practices differ from their own.

Cybill Shepherd, best known for her role starring alongside Bruce Willis on the ABC 80s drama Moonlighting, agreed to promote eating meat for the Beef Industry Council in back in 1987.

The slogan was  “Real food for real people!” Sounds like someone did a spin-off of that 20 years later when designing the t-shirt Jessica Simpson once wore.

Cybill was removed from the campaign after she admitted she was a vegetarian.

Hello? Why do the campaign to begin with?
