30 Seconds to Mars singer Jared Leto has revealed secret, possibly rooted in ancient tradition, ceremonies he and the other two band members, Shannon Leto and Tomo Milisevic, share.

Instead of sacrificing animals before a performance, Leto says soybeans are offered.

“Well there was a time when we used to sacrifice goats but then we all became vegans so we’ve been sacrificing tofu before the shows!” Leto joked on Myspace, according to Gigwise.

Dude is close to 40, but doesn’t look like he’s legal to even play at some of the venues where 30 Seconds takes the stage.

The youth gods must love tofu!

Alicia Keys was spotted with her man Swizz Beatz at New York’s Juliet Supper Club enjoying a vegan meal made especially for her.

Keys was there to throw a party for her friend, Erika Rose.

Keys has said in the past that as a vegetarian, she eats lots of greens and rice.

Chris DeCinque, front man for the rising Australian band Closure In Moscow sat down with Vegnews.com to discuss his thoughts on being vegan, including the most important question every vegetarian should be able to answer.

Tofu or seitan?

Chris chose seitan, along with soy milk over rice and and vegan sesame prawn toast.

“Back home in Australia you can’t go past vegan sesame prawn toast—to die for. It’s basically deep-fried batter stuffed with “prawn” filling and a layer of sesame seeds on top, cut into the shape of toast. Simple, but amazing.”

Wonder if fellow Australian vegan musician Missy Higgins snacks on that during her home visits?

There is life after Vegemite down under.

“I was hounded and followed by Americans worldwide, who said ‘You’ve got to make him stop.’ I hadn’t even heard the show. Actually so many people told me to take it off, I thought ‘(expletive) it.’ I don’t have to do what you people want me to do. That show doesn’t matter to me. I think people are too easily baited. Those talk guys are just part of the gossip culture. Everyone’s got opinions on other people. It’s such a boring, unoriginal topic. No offense, but that’s not an original question. Ask me something else.”

—-hilarious Chrissie Hynde in an interview where she was asked about conservative talks show host Rush Limbaugh using her song, “My City Was Gone,” for his radio show.

Eventually Chrissie allowed Rush to use part of the song, but donate royalties to PETA.

And Rush isn’t such a bad guy after all, as he recorded a PSA for the Humane Society-without Chrissie’s prompt.

The left and the right can get along.

At least when it comes to being an advocate for animals.

“For me, it’s more of a personal thing. I don’t judge any musician or nonmusician for living the sort of lifestyle that they do. I think it all comes down to conscience and making the decision for you and your life. Everyone’s at a different point of realization.”

“The first few tours I did, I was talking about [green issues] on stage. Then I just figured I probably shouldn’t talk about it every tour, so now I guess I’m just talking about it in interviews. It’s something I’ve been doing for quite a while now, so it doesn’t feel like news.”

—Singer, musician and songwriter Missy Higgins, in an interview with Mother Nature Network, on whether or not she considers herself an “elite” greenie.

Missy could count herself as being in the upper echelon of green musicians. Her biggest green move is being vegan. She also donated profits from her song, “Steer,” to the Sierra Club’s Two Percent Project, makes her tours carbon neutral, and performed at Live Earth Australia last year.

Davey Havok does a three part interview with blogger Joshua Katcher @ The Discerning Brute.

Part one goes into how a man can be ethically handsome. Davey misheard Joshua and thought he said “ethnically” handsome, which results in some laughter, since Davey is of Italian heritage and Joshua is Jewish.

“Having ethical beauty is something that is very rare in our world,” Davey said.

Davey stays ethically handsome by following a vegan diet and even has his own vegan clothing line.

“I am definitely, personally, an environmentalist by way of being vegan,” Davey continues. “If the world were vegetarian or vegan, the impact that it would have on the environment or biosphere would be far greater than if people stopped driving cars.”

Moby recently sat down and interviewed himself.

Yes, you read right. In a hilarious interview, cool video technique combines with Moby’s strange sense of humor, allowing the singer and musician to take on two different personas, one that mocks and ridicules him while asking questions.

“So while we’re here, you got any of that self-righteous vegan crap you want to talk about?” asked Moby’s alter ego, who sports a backwards cap.

“Well, it’s not self-righteous,” Moby answers. “At least, I hope it’s not self-righteous. I’ve been a vegan now for 22 years.”

“Boooring,” sighs alter ego Moby.

“If other people choose to eat meat or dairy products, that’s their choice. I don’t really want to judge them. I hope I’m not being too self-righteous.”

Alter ego Moby says he really wishes Eminem had kicked Moby’s ass at the MTV awards and asks how it feels to be the least attractive musician in the business.

Man, alter egos can be brutal!
