“True Blood” Kristin Bauer Character Eats Free-Range Humans

Kristin Bauer

Kristin Bauer calls herself the vegetarian who only eats free-range, natural turkey around the holidays.

Now she’s jokingly confessing that her character on HBO’s True Blood, Pam de Beaufort, has similar ethics when it comes to eating.

Vampire Pam isn’t about to purchase some drive-though people flesh at the cheap human fast food restaurant. Who knows what kinds of hormones and antibiotics those humans were raised on?

The True Blood Season 2 DVD and Blu-Ray edition has just been released and there are special features included, such as fake infomercials and The Vampire News.

One segment on The Vampire News has Tom Colicchio making an edible version of a blood drink for vampires that have stopped eating humans for ethical reasons (even the free-range humans).

Why do conventional chefs think chicken stock is a necessity in an otherwise vegetable based dish?

Who knows, but if you substitute vegetable broth for the stock, you have a completely vegan shake with fava beans for protein, spices like fennel and star anise, beet juice and other greens.

“I have a few friends that are vampires, and I’ve had this issue,” Collichio says. “We go out, and I’m sitting there through appetizer, and entree, and dessert, and they’re just kind of nursing a TruBlood. It’s a little awkward.”

Nylon Magazine Party in West Hollywood

Women’s Day recently featured a wedding dress wrapped Anna Paquin on the cover with rumored details about her big day with True Blood co-star Stephen Moyer.

A source told the mag Anna and Stephen are living a frugal life in Venice Beach, LA that includes lots of healthy veggie food that you might expect to find in California.

“It’s all very hippie with vegan food, jogging, cycling and surfing,” the source said.

Anna is a rumored vegetarian, so hopefully the life is suiting the soon to be bride well.

Wonder if she almost lost her veggie lunch after taking a whiff of the meat tree on the True Blood set?

“Suck” Vampire Flick Premiers At Toronto Film Festival

Suck

Suck recently premiered at the Toronto Film Festival.

It’s a vampire horror comedy featuring stars like Moby, Alice Cooper, and Iggy Pop.

A rock band wishes to become famous and gets a chance to do so after meeting a vampire-and gets more than a record deal in the package.

“It’s sort of like an exaggerated rock & roll world,” says director and writer Rob Stefaniuk. “I’ve seen a lot of rock & roll movies, but what I wanted to do differently is make it less of a cinéma vé?rité — this is what it feels like to be in a real band, and yet I didn’t want to do a parody of a bunch of guys that go ‘Yeah dude’ and a big roadie. I wanted it to feel real, so you’re not in a band with a bunch of druggie people; you’re in a band with a bunch of vampires.”

The movie, as expected, features lots of blood and guts, and latex rubber “meat” was created to throw at vegan Moby, who plays “Beef Ballow,” lead singer for the band Secretaries of Steak.

Great idea these guys used fake meat-unlike that horrible meat tree from True Blood, so Moby wouldn’t hurl blood from disgust.

Michelle Forbes On “True Blood” 2 Finale: Meat Tree Was Repulsive

Written by Vegetarian Star on Thursday, September 10th, 2009 in Actresses, Film & TV, Videos.

SyFy / Entertainment Weekly Party

We recently learned that True Blood star Michelle Forbes has been a vegetarian for a long time-30 years!

So when it came time to film the season 2 finale of True Blood, Michelle was a little queasy about the set surroundings when it came to the “Meat Tree.”

Some bits from trueblood-online.com:

I assume you weren’t cutting into an actual human heart. Please tell me you weren’t.
Michelle: No, no. I’m not sure what it was, but we all got creeped out when I cut into it because it made the worst squishing sound in the world. The irony is that I’m a 30-year vegetarian. I’ve been an animal activist my entire life, so the role of Maryann has been a bit challenging – especially with the lovely meat tree – Di-meat-tree, as he became known.

That tree is repulsive. Tell us about it.
Michelle: It was filled with real meat and reeked as the weeks wore on. There are bobcats and coyotes roaming around that ranch where we shoot, so they had someone sit by the tree with a gun at night to protect it.

Real meat? Men willing and able to shoot and kill more animals to protect the already dead ones?

True-ly uncool, especially since fake meat props would be easy to create, as such was done with the vampire horror flick Moby starred in, Suck.

Here’s the promo for True Blood Season 2 finale, which airs September 13 on HBO at 9PM.

Michelle Forbes Can’t Believe Animals Are Sacrificed

Written by Vegetarian Star on Tuesday, August 25th, 2009 in Actresses, Food & Drink.

25th Annual Television Critics Association Awards - Arrivals

Michelle Forbes plays the villainous character Maryann Forrester on HBO’s True Blood.

Forbes’ character may do some barbaric things on the show, but according to Forbes, it’s just based on the “moral construct” of her group.

In other words, everybody’s cool with it!

Forbes, a vegetarian, used this example to explain how she can’t believe people are still eating animals, because based on her moral code, they shouldn’t be.

From blackbookmag.com:

“I do believe that she’s a character that’s all about perspective. If you think that this is an immortal being. She’s been around since the beginning of time. She’s lived in certain periods of our humanity, where there were people who would sit and watch other men tear each other apart for sport. Children were sacrificed. It’s not unheard of in history. In her mind, she’s seen it all. I think what’s great about the storyline is that it challenges our belief system. You and I can sit here in 2009 and say it’s outrageous that someone would sacrifice humans. My belief system, as a vegetarian, can’t believe that animals are being sacrificed. I stand by that in Maryann’s mind, there’s nothing malevolent. She has a different way of looking at the world.”
