Jill Zarin Book Party New York City

Jill Zarin just released her book, Secrets of a Jewish Mother, and held a launch party at her husband’s store, Zarin Fabrics, in New York City.

The Real Housewives of New York City reality star recently presented a copy of the book in a Zarin Fabrics bag to Ok! magazine.

Zarin Fabrics may be a great place to stop by the next time you’re redecorating.

The drapery and upholstery fabric shop carries a selection of faux suede and leather skins in a variety of colors, including green, buckskin brown, sand, dark brown, brick brown, camel and white.

A trip to the NYC warehouse might eliminate your need to drape those discount sheets over the couch to cover up the holes and stains.

“Chelsea Lately” Host Chelsea Handler Rips Kelly Bensimon For Fur

Written by Vegetarian Star on Friday, March 26th, 2010 in Fur, TV Hosts, Videos.

Chelsea Handler is giving Real Housewives of New York City star Kelly Bensimon a piece of her mind many other animal lovers share.

Handler discussed Bensimon’s recent rave about fur, where Bensimon said something to the effect that although she loves animals and never advocates hurting them, she doesn’t see a problem with wearing fur.

She also obviously doesn’t see the contradiction in her statements, but Handler on E! attempted to clear things up for her.

“Really? You don’t abuse animals? I think the chinchilla who just had his hide ripped off might disagree. You think you’re a great fur wearer? You know who wears it better? The innocent animal it came from. This is not a smart move. You just taunted PETA on national television while wearing an unattractive fur vest.”

Kelly Bensimon Thinks Playboy Ad Trumps PETA

Written by Vegetarian Star on Monday, March 22nd, 2010 in Reality TV.

Hot Off Her Playboy Debut Kelly Bensimon Ironically Heads To Fashion Week!

Kelly Bensimon has continually ran her mouth about her love of fur, chicken, and everything not animal friendly.

The Real Housewives Examiner quoted Kelly comparing her Playboy shoot to appearing in an ad for PETA.

Apparently, she thinks there is no comparison.

“I don’t really think that there is any comparison between PETA and Playboy. Being photographed for Playboy is the ultimate sex symbol. It’s not like you’re posing nude, you’re posing nude for the most infamous book in the world. To be 41 and in Playboy is a really surreal moment.”

If meat and potatoes girl had any sense, she’d know that PETA ads, such as the “I’d Rather Go Naked Than Wear Fur” ones are hands down, the sexiest.

There’s nothing sexier than scantily clad to nearly nude women (and men) who pose not only for publicity, but to gain attention to the important cause of treating animals humanely and with compassion.

Maybe she can take a clue from housewife Bethenny Frankel, who posed in a PETA ad, and consider giving up fur for good.

Dead isn’t sexy, Kelly.

Now please stop talking and stick a faux chicken wing in your mouth.

Kelly Bensimon “Playboy” Shoot Took Too Many Chicken Wings

Written by Vegetarian Star on Wednesday, March 10th, 2010 in Not So Vegetarian, Reality TV.

Brooklyns Finest New York City.

Kelly Bensimon revealed the disgusting details of how she prepped for her photo shoot for Playboy.

The Real Housewives of New York City star told US Magazine that she ate nothing but chicken to make her body look full and voluptuous.

“I literally drank beer — Corona — and ate chicken wings for two weeks!”

Bensimon said that between running and riding horses, she gets really thin, but wanted a different image for the cover.

“I’m pretty full in those pictures, but I like it. That’s really me. That’s what I look like. It’s real,” said Bensimon.

“I want people to enjoy their life, not be starving and going to get a colonic because they think they need to be skinnier.”

Playboy is suppose to turn people on, but the thought of eating a potentially salmonella covered leg ripped from a cute little bird at a factory farm sounds like a real turnoff.

The next time she aims for the full figured Anna Nicole look, Kelly should just load up on some tomato pie dipped in garlic flavored olive oil.

Bethenny Frankel PETA Ad–Not Everyone Likes A Naked Bethenny

Bethenny Frankel "I'd Rather Go Naked Than Wear Fur" PETA Ad

Who would have thought a harmless little nude photo would stir up so much commotion?

Vegetarians and animal activists may love Bethenny Frankel‘s PETA “I’d Rather Go Naked Than Wear Fur” Ad, but other people, including her own Real Housewives girlfriends, think differently.

Some are wondering why non vegetarian Bethenny, who reportedly has a new cookbook full of chicken recipes, could even begin to criticize someone for wearing fur.

PETA responded by saying, “Bethenny is not a vegan and never claimed to be. She has, however, brought much-needed attention to PETA’s anti-fur campaign.”

And do those naysayers remember that Bethenny has given love to plenty of vegetarian recipes, including dishes with tofu and Boca Burgers?

But even if Bethenny turned total veggie, some still would find fault at how sperminated Bethenny chose to have her PETA ad air brushed to cover her pregnancy weight gain.

New Jersey Housewife Teresa Giudice sniped, “Someone tell Bethenny that sperm does not make you look fat. I’m not buying the airbrushing thing in any case.”

Sigh…Some people are too hard to please.

The Cinema Society Screening Of "The Young Victoria" - After Party

Real Housewives of New York City star Kelly Bensimon asked on Twitter why she shouldn’t wear fur.

But having a compassionate heart isn’t good enough for Bensimon, she just wants the cold, hard facts.

“Fur really gets u guys fired up. Let’s talk facts, not emotion. Tell me factually why peeps shouldn’t wear fur. I want to know, facts only.”

Well, well…if you have to be blunt.

Animals killed for fur in North America are put to sleep with carbon monoxide or carbon dioxide gas, according to the Fur Commission of USA.

But an investigation by Care for the Wild, EAST International and the Swiss Animal Protection (SAP) titled “Fun Fur? A Report on the Chinese Fur Industry” found animals were killed inhumanely by being skinned alive, still having a heartbeat and taking a breath 5-10 minutes after being skinned.

Ah, but that’s still too emotional for Kelly.

What about being totally environmentally unfriendly!

Global Action Network, an animal and environment protection agency has much to say on this issue.

Fur itself is natural, but the process to make it stable (aka lasting longer than most of your relationships) involves using formaldehyde, chromium and other chemicals the EPA states cause respiratory problems and are possible carcinogens.

And a study released by the New York state Department of Health found half of testicular cancer victims worked in the fur tanning industry.

With that said, hope Kelly is wearing a fake in this photo.

Maybe she should be spending more time with the naked, fur-free housewife Bethenny?

In my opinion, Deli Flats thin rolls are the greatest thing since sliced bread!”

As we eagerly await Bethenny Frankel‘s nude anti-fur ad, we bring you a recipe courtesy of the Real Housewives of New York City star.

We like Bethenny, because although she doesn’t solely cook vegetarian foods, she definitely not stingy about giving the diet some promos, from her Bethenny Bakes, low fat wheat, egg and dairy free baked goodies to her recipes using Boca Burgers.

She’s a mainstream chef who brings vegetarian ideas to the general public and we applaud her for that.

Recently, Bethenny’s made two recipes available to celebrate the launch of Pepperidge Farm Baked Natural Cheese Crisps.
