Bristol Palin: Sins Of The Mother Warrant PETA Baby Shower

Written by Vegetarian Star on Thursday, January 8th, 2009 in Children, Politicians.

UPI POY 2008 - Campaign 2008.

Bristol Palin, the daughter of the infamous former Vice Presidential candidate Sarah Palin, is one of the latest victims of PETA.

Well, depending on how you look at it, she may or may not be, as it looks as though they’ve given some cute, innocent gifts to her and her newborn, Tripp.

A few months ago, Sarah made a statement to someone in the media (media appearances always get her into trouble, just take a look) that she and husband Todd “never met an animal they didn’t like – to eat or shoot.”

This obviously rubbed PETA the wrong way and besides throwing snowballs at Sarah, they responded to the Palin predicament by sending daughter Bristol these “gifts.” You could call it a “PETA baby shower.”

Bristol’s late Christmas presents include a baby outfit that reads, “Gives Peas A Chance”, Ingrid Newkirk’s 50 Awesome Ways Kids Can Help Animals, and her latest One Can Make A Difference book as well.

Oh, and we can’t forget the nice letter recommending Bristol and Tripp stop eating the wolves her mother shoots from the sky and go vegetarian.

Some say PETA has gone too far and that Bristol is an innocent teenage girl who’s never publicly made statements similar to her mother and shouldn’t be targeted as such.

Then again, you could call it PETA just doing its job.

Pamela Anderson’s Christmas Gift To Bush, Barack Obama

Pamela Anderson Book Signing

Who knew Pamela Anderson was a bookworm? She’s loves one book so much, she told Contact Music she was giving two copies of it away-one to President Bush and another to his soon to be successor Barack Obama.

One Can Make a Difference, a collection of celebrity written essays compiled by PETA’s President Ingrid Newkirk, has touched Pammie so much, she’s sure it will make a great addition to the Presidential libraries.

“I’m sending a copy of the book to the Obamas and, what the hell, to Mr. Bush, too, since he’ll need ways to pass the time, because it is exactly the theme for our next White House: one can make a difference!” she said.

One Can Make a Difference contains essays written by Russell Simmons, Willie Nelson, and Oliver Stone to name a few. Meant to be inspirational, it’s far from hokey and contrived, according to Anderson’s review.

“It’s a collection of 50 inspirational essays – not boring ‘strive to be better’ sayings, but real-life stories that are truly amazing.”

Raffles Hotels & Resorts and Elite Traveler Celebrate the Latest in Luxury

Oh, yeah. Vegan chefs are rocking!

First, we told you how hottie Adam Levine and his Maroon 5 band mates chose vegan raw chef Ani Phyo to cater their Halloween party. Now, the ever so popular celebrity chef movement is recognizing that vegan food deserves its star on the Walk of Fame too.

“Great Chefs Cook Vegan,” is filled with dozens of recipes from celebrity chefs such as Dan Barber, Thomas Keller, Charlie Trotter, Todd English, and Daniel Boulud, pictured here.

“Great Chefs” was compiled by vegan Linda Long, who decided she wanted to challenge the chefs to offer more than lettuce leaves, and cook three or four course meals that would make any vegan beg for seconds and thirds. Long has been a vegan for 33 years, so she definitely could tell them when to send a dish packing!

For an example of what made the cut, try Cauliflower “Steak” With Quinoa.

Great Chefs Cook Vegan would make a lovely complement to One Can Make A Difference this holiday season, don’t ya think? Start dropping hints about your wish list now! Or, if you prefer, you can always buy it for yourself and sing the song of, “Happy Holidays to me.”

Model Petra Nemcova Writes About Making A Difference

2008 Princess Grace Awards Gala Celebrity Arrivals In NYC

Supermodel Petra Nemcova realized she could make a difference with the depleting fish population, so she turned vegan and told the world about it.

Once Can Make a Difference debuted in the bookstores a couple of weeks ago and it’s a great read that every vegetarian/vegan/celebrity lover should pick up. Amazon’s only a click away, so you don’t even have to leave your home to do so.

Ingrid Newkirk, President and Founder of PETA, has compiled essays from celebrities such as Willie Nelson, Petra Nemcova and Kevin Bacon as well as unknown individuals who are taking action in life to better the world. To introduce the essays, Ingrid writes a powerful and motivating statement:

By including both the “known” and the “unknown,” I hope this book illustrates (a) that even those we admire from afar invariably face obstacles and have to find ways to keep their belief alive and (b) that you don’t have to be a household name to make a difference, to become an example to others; you just need to have a conviction.

An example of such “unknown” acts include a college student who collects change between the furniture in the dorms and donates the money to charity.

So put this on your holiday shopping lists everyone. If we go out and buy One Can Make a Difference the day after Thanksgiving, we’ll turn Black Friday into a greener one.
