Quantcast Vegetarian StarLady Gaga (3)

Lady Gaga and her meat outfit is the most popular choice for Halloween this year, according to the National Retail Federation. Fortunately for fellow Halloween party goers and trick or treaters, most people will shop for synthetic garments instead of the real thing.

From Third Age:

“With costume ideas up 6,696% this month on Yahoo!, searches reveal that 2010’s top searched celebrity Halloween costume is Lady Gaga. Coming in second is Michael Jackson, and Katy Perry takes the third position.”

Groovy Vegetarian has listed a few vegetarian friendly costumes to order for the end of the month, including a very big, green favorite of ours.

Nellie McKay has an extensive interview with Broadway World where she spills her heart on issues like animal rights and global warming, vegan food, favorite celebrities and that never going away topic of Lady Gaga‘s meat dress.

A song on her latest CD, Home Sweet Mobile Home, titled “Unknown Reggae,” is about animals being consumed for meat.

“For animal rights, it would be “Unknown Reggae” on the new record. It is about the meat, in particular. But, animal products – including dairy and eggs, although I know it is difficult to get off of them – that’s the quickest way to end global warming. It really has a terrible impact on the earth, eating higher up on the food chain like that. If we went back to the basics of vegetables, legumes, grains – the things closer to the earth – it’s a lot better for the earth and for other people. We can feed more people, we can feed the starving people.”

In response to criticism from animal rights activists for wearing a meat bikini and meat dress, Lady Gaga has threatened to wear tofu to make the vegetarians mad. Or so she thinks it will.

During a performance in Philadelphia, Gaga said, “What’s everyone’s big problem with my meat dress?”

“Haven’t they seen me wear leather? Next time, I’ll wear a tofu dress and the soy milk police will come after me.”

Actually the soy milk police will probably give Gaga a key to the city if she wears soy clothing, given the fact it’s cruelty-free and eco-friendly.

Lady Gaga Is Invited To Vegan Dinner By PETA President

Written by Vegetarian Star on Tuesday, September 28th, 2010 in Female Musicians, Female Singers, Food & Drink, Recipes.

PETA’s president and co-founder, Ingrid Newkirk, would like to treat Lady Gaga to a full course vegan meal.

At the group’s 30th anniversary gala, Newkirk revealed she sent Gaga a little letter due to the singer’s recent escapades in outfits fashioned from raw meat.

“I’ve written to her privately and suggested that maybe we have a vegan dinner privately somewhere,” Newkirk said.

A special event may have varying levels of dress requirements, but we do hope Lady Gaga realizes her meat dress worn to the MTV Video Music Awards is a little inappropriate and would get her turned away faster than a polka dot pants wearing shirtless gent at a black tie party.

As a vegetarian or vegan, you’re probably already an expert at hosting meatless dinner parties, but if you’re going to be on the guest end of things, you can politely email tips for hosting a vegetarian friendly dinner to your host.

The basics of ensuring the guests feel welcomed, of course, is remembering what each type of diet means.

Written by Vegetarian Star on Monday, September 20th, 2010 in Fashion, Female Singers, Food & Drink.

Lady Gaga has too much power in the gossip world, which is exactly what she wanted to gain.

Meat dresses. Prosciutto bikinis. Sustainable fish dresses. The best however, is a soy meat dress.

During an interview with KMLE radio station in Phoenix, vegetarian Carrie Underwood was asked if she would ever wear a meat dress.

KT Tunstall is the latest celebrity to comment on the Lady-Gaga-Meat-Dress-Saga. Yes, amazingly enough, that is still considered news.

Tunstall says that while she understands why vegetarians and vegans are so upset, Gaga’s dress worn for the cover of Vogue Japan isn’t much different from people wearing leather.

“As soon as I saw it, I thought, what is the difference between that and leather? Animals die needlessly for leather all the time.”

“I haven’t heard a legitimate reason why anyone would be offended by her wearing meat, except for vegans angry about animals being killed, which is fair enough.”

Tunstall, a pescatarian, recently took her own hit of controversy with vegetarians when she ate black pudding, a dish made of congealed pig’s blood.

A little steak on the hips. Pig’s blood to the lips. Can we all agree to aim to stop using animals for human purposes period and call it a day?

Beatles "Yesterday and Today" album cover

Beatles "Yesterday and Today" album cover

According to some sources, Paul McCartney wasn’t introduced to vegetarianism by Linda McCartney until the mid 70s. Sounds true, cause there would be no way Paul would have posed with raw meat cuts for the Beatles’ Yesterday and Today album cover in 1966.

The Telegraph has a story on several artists who’ve pulled a raw meat Gaga stunt and when the album was created, the Beatles wanted to make a statement about the Vietnam war by posing as butchers with chunks of meat and butchered dolls.

Advanced copies of the album created too much controversy, so the record label’s management ordered a new cover, but many of the originals still remain.

Lady Gaga‘s meat dress for the MTV VMAs not only looked disgusting, but smell the part too.

The dress, designed by Franc Fernandez, was designed from REAL raw meat cuts from a local butcher (hey, hey, should we at least give him credit for not making it travel and using more emissions?). Gaga may be hot, but she’s not warm enough to cook meat, and as you may suspect, the raw dead flesh began to smell almost instantly, much to Eminem‘s displeasure.

The rapper refused to sit by Gaga and a source told The Mirror, “Marshall said he didn’t want to be sat next to a pile of raw meat all night. He said it smelled pretty bad.”
