Hugh Hefner’s Fiance Crystal Harris Is Animal Rights Activist

Written by Vegetarian Star on Wednesday, January 5th, 2011 in Animal Issues, Models.

Crystal Harris (on the left next to Hef) is Hugh Hefner‘s latest fiance. According to online sources, Harris is an animal rights activist, owns a dog and has two freshwater fish tanks in her bedroom.

And that’s about all we want to know about what’s going on in her bedroom.

What we would like more of, however, is information on how this former San Diego State University Psychology major is reaching out to the public on behalf of animals. Does she volunteer at a shelter? Regularly write to her congressmen about pending animal rights laws? Details, details, details!

She obviously isn’t uncomfortable with using sex to sell, so maybe PETA will get her in lettuce leaves ASAP and she’ll go vegetarian (if she already hasn’t) as well.

Joanna Krupa Playboy December 2009

Joanna Krupa is gracing the cover of Playboy magazine for the December 2009 issue.

The Dancing With The Stars competitor is looking hot and may be able to thank both genes and diet for getting herself on the Hugh Hefner bible.

Joanna follows a diet of what she calls “95% fishatarian” and says she feels great without the meat.

“If I have a strong craving for meat, I have a steak,” she said. “But interestingly enough my craving for meat is decreasing.”

While we’re proud of Joanna for cutting back on meat, but we’re afraid her fishy habits might harm both herself and the planet, as she admits to “indulging” in sushi.

“I indulge in sushi and salads and seafood dishes and – once in a while I allow myself also some French fries or pancakes.”

Joanna is compassionate–she’s already done an anti-fur ad.

Might it be too much to ask Joanna to give us our Holiday wish and go veg completely?

Don’t want her ending up with the Jeremy Piven syndrome.

Holly Madison No Model PETA Citizen

Written by Vegetarian Star on Friday, June 19th, 2009 in Fur, Models.

Holly Madison may be the The Girl Next Door, but she’s no model PETA spokesperson.

And PETA’s okay with that.

When the animal rights group approached her to do an anti-fur ad, she told them she wasn’t even thinking of giving up eating meat.

“I’m not a hardcore PETA person,” she said. “When they approached me to do the ad, I made it clear to them that I’m not a vegetarian, and I’ve got leather seats in my car. I said I would support that ad campaign, but I wasn’t their model citizen, and they were fine with that.”

Hey, at least she didn’t turn around and do a burger ad afterwards.

One could stir a nice little debate up on whether we should praise celebrities who take seemingly opposite stances on animal issues. What do you think? Is it okay for celebrities to partake in certain animal rights campaigns and not others. If steak eating Ted Nugent decided he wanted to go naked, would you want it (for the animals, not for pleasure, that is)?
