The Food Network’s Cupcake Wars has never been more vegan friendlier.

Several bakeries featured on the reality TV cooking competition have been either vegan based or offered vegan pastries.

And a few winners of the top 10,000 dollar prize have won with completely vegan cupcakes.

A recent episode had every contestant competing using only vegan ingredients.

Cupcake Wars

A bakery that won the challenge on the Food Network’s Cupcake Wars is using its publicity to further expand its social efforts.

Papa Ganache was founded by Lisa Siroti, a social worker who also used the business to help children in need.

The increased business from her Cupcake Wars appearance has now allowed her to put more funds into the social service part of the bakery.

This Sunday’s episode of the Food Network’s Cupcake Wars will friendly a vegan-friendly bakery in the space themed challenge that has the winner baking for the Space Shuttle Endeavour’s induction ceremony into the California Science Center in Los Angeles.

Food Network “Cupcake Wars” Vegan Bakery Winners

Chloe Coscarelli set the example when she won the Food Network‘s cupcake baking competition, Cupcake Wars last year. Coscarelli impressed the judges with dairy-free and egg-free versions of Ginger Nutmeg Spice with Date Caramel Drizzle, Chocolate Strawberry Shortcake, Crème-filled Chocolate Orange with Candied Orange Peel and Raspberry Tiramisu.

Recently, Cupcake Wars featured a vegan-on-vegan competition, where Doron Petersan from D.C.’s Sticky Fingers Bakery and Kim Garr of L.A.’s C’est La V Bakeshop squared off.

In the end, Petersan took home the $10,000 grand prize, but when two vegan bakers are featured on such a popular national food show, is there really a loser?

We don’t think so!

Vegnews had the opportunity to chat with both owners to learn what it’s like behind the scenes with all the lights, cameras, hot ovens and muffin tins.

Chloe Coscarelli has won the 2nd episode of Cupcake Wars on the Food Network!

The cupcakes that impressed the judges were Ginger Nutmeg Spice with Date Caramel Drizzle, Chocolate Strawberry Shortcake, Crème-filled Chocolate Orange with Candied Orange Peel, and Raspberry Tiramisu. Coscarelli received $10,000 for beating out dairy and egg cupcakes and was able to show off her vegan catering talents for a celebrity party hosted by Ok! Magazine.

The 23 year old gave VegNews an interview, revealing both she and other people were shocked at the fact a mainstream food show chose vegan sweets as favorites.

What’s with this new love for vegan sweets the Food Network has lately? On tomorrow’s (Tuesday) second episode of Cupcake Wars, vegan LA chef Chloe Coscarelli will compete against dairy cupcake makers in a competition for a chance to cater for a high profile magazine party in Beverly Hills.

Recently, a vegan friendly cupcake shop, Sugar Cupcakery, was featured on the series as well.
