“Celebrity Big Brother” Evicts Nicola–Nicola T Rebuilds Cow

Written by Vegetarian Star on Thursday, January 28th, 2010 in Models, Not So Vegetarian, Reality TV.

Celebrity Big Brother - Fourth Eviction

Nicola Tappenden, otherwise known as Nicola T, was the seventh person to be evicted from the Big Brother House on the UK reality TV show Celebrity Big Brother.

Nicola didn’t go down without a fight–but based on one of the tasks she attempted, maybe she should have just surrendered from the minute the show started.

To win a message from her family, Nicola took on the disgusting challenge from the Tree of Temptation, which consisted of rebuilding a cow with that looked to be bloody flesh.

Nice try, but that still won’t make the heifer moo again.

Take a look at the pic, if you have a vomit bag nearby and decide for yourself if that’s real.

If that doesn’t make someone want to go vegetarian, what will?

“Celebrity Big Brother”–Sisqo Gives Heidi Fleiss Thumbs Up

Written by Vegetarian Star on Wednesday, January 13th, 2010 in Food & Drink, Reality TV.

Celebrity Big Brother - Celebrities Enter The House

This season’s Celebrity Big Brother received a thumbs down for furnishing the house with fur rugs and leather couches.

But on a recent episode of the show, the residents were turned into senior citizens in the Last Legs Old People’s Home and given the task of completing an obstacle course called the Klapped Out Factor, based on the quiz show, The Krypton Factor.

One part of the challenge was a “bobbing for apples” like task, where contestants had to grab dumplings from a bowl of stew.

The dumplings were said to be vegetarian.

Heidi Fleiss got a compliment from Sisqo on a job well done, even though she broke the bowl trying so hard.

Was he just kissing up because he wanted to see her thong?

“Celebrity Big Brother” House Fur Rug Animal Hell

Night Of Heroes - Arrivals

The new Celebrity Big Brother House has been unveiled and residents like Coronation Street‘s Kym Marsh, Stephanie Beacham and MC Hammer will have the chance to cuddle up with some very animal unfriendly furnishings.

BBC News reports:

“Producers have opted for a gothic, hellish decor, based on Dante’s Inferno and philosopher Jean-Paul Sartre’s notion that “Hell is other people”.

Hellish is a mild word to describe the living room area.

From looking at the photos, there are fur rugs and leather sofas.

Sure, there are other scary features like skulls on the pillows, but what could be creepier than lying against the hide of a previous living creature?

Makes you wanna get evicted.

Vegetarian Boy George was banned from the show due to his probation restrictions.

Too bad, because at least he could have cooked veg food for everyone to offset all that bad animal karma (kameleon).

Amazing Race 15 Vegans: Eric And Lisa

Reality TV shows have not been kind to vegetarians or vegans.

Amazing Race Terence Gerchberg and the sheep eating challenge.

LaToya Jackson and her vegetarian needs of salmon on Celebrity Big Brother.

John Salley and his rat tail snacks on I’m a Celebrity, Get Me Out Of Here.

You get the point.

But this season’s Amazing Race has a vegan couple, Eric and Lisa, who will attempt to give reality TV a try without trying frog heads while surviving in the wild.

Eric and Lisa are both yoga instructors, who own four yoga studios between the two of them.

Four studios?

Sounds like these guys get around.

Must be the all that flexibility.

As the Detroit Reality TV examiner says:

“They are both vegans which may give them some trouble if there are any food challenges as there have been in the past.  Would they eat the cuisine of a country if it was an animal?  They both want to “be the best they can be” and plan to work hard to make it through this race.  Will their yoga knowledge help them stay calm cool and collected throughout this game?”

Tune in for the season premier on Sunday September 27 at 8/7c to find out more.

Chantelle Houghton Launching Lots Of Hopefully Vegan Brands

Written by Vegetarian Star on Thursday, June 25th, 2009 in Models, Reality TV.

Digital Spy Reality TV Awards - Arrivals

Chantelle Houghton gained some extra fame by being a Paris Hilton lookalike, but looks are about where the similarities end.

The Celebrity Big Brother 2006 winner is now following a strict vegan diet, according to a friend, and wants to give other British veg gals like Heather Mills and Leona Lewis a run for their money by launching several lines of  items under her name.

“She’s a strict vegan and is going to launch a new range of food, a make-up range, a perfume and her own swimwear line.”

Go Chantelle.

We hope that not only will Chantelle’s food line be vegan, but she’ll remember to keep her perfume and make-up cruelty free and free from animal products too.

Chantelle is aiming for natural in several areas of her life, including ditching the fake hair, bronze tan, and after battling bulimia, now takes pride in what she calls her new beautiful and womanly figure.

Congratulations on the new and healthier you, Chantelle. Have a piece of vegan cake on us.

Celebrity Big Brother contestants

Many of us are pinching pennies in the recession and the contestants of Celebrity Big Brother 6  are no exception.

The group, which includes notables like La Toya Jackson and Verne Troyer, were recently faced with buying groceries on a reduced budget and were arguing over what foods should be put on the shopping list.

Ulrika Jonsson suggested talking La Toya into compromising and eating some tuna and salmon because it’s cheaper.

Troyer protests that La Toya isn’t trying to be difficult in her eating choices, but that she’s vegetarian and they shouldn’t force her to eat meat.

Apparently, she’s been doing it anyway.

Jonsson later told other house mates that “Verne was so quick to stand up for La Toya and make the point that she is a vegetarian, has a strict diet and needs her salmon,” she said.

“But, well, vegetarians aren’t supposed to eat fish in the first place, and La Toya even ate turkey mince yesterday.”

You’d think that La Toya could have the rules bent and bring in her own food in order to stick with her diet.

But as we learned with the Amazing Race, Reality TV ain’t always pretty to those who aren’t omnivores.

Imogen Bailey Wanted To Be Lawyer, Now Looking To Act

Imogen Bailey poses for PETA Ad

One vegetarian star is retiring from the film business, one is hoping to make her debut.

Imogen Bailey is looking to launch a career as an actress.

The vegetarian model has graced the cover of several magazines, including Ralph, FHM, ZOO Weekly, Playboy and Black+White Magazine.

She’s also competed in reality TV shows, including “Celebrity Big Brother” and “Celebrity Survivor”, where she won third place.

Perhaps our favorite modeling gigs she’s done are the ones for PETA, such as the one pictured here.

Not to mention she’s super-smart, participated in some highly intelligent nerdy after school activities, and had plans to go to law school. “As a little girl I wanted to be a lawyer. I loved debating and was on all the debating teams,” she told the Sydney Morning Herald.

Loved debating and arguing? No wonder she’s so opinionated and has no problem lending herself to animal rights organizations. At home, she shares space with three Maltese terriers and describes each of them “deaf,” “blind,” and “pure evil.”
