John Salley has taken ownership in vegan wine brand The Vegan Vine Wines. He plans to use the opportunity of promoting the family owned and operated brand to educate consumers on animal products used in the process of wine making.

But wining isn’t a new passion for Salley. As The Wine Spectator discovered during an interview, this former NBA player has been interested in the beverage for a little more than a decade.

John Salley has partnered with vegan wine company The Vegan Vine Wines to help educate consumers on the animal products used in the wine filtration process.

The basketball legend will take part ownership and serve as an ambassador in the family-owned and operated Clos LaChance Wines brand.

As both a vegan and wine lover, I was very surprised to learn about the use of animal products in the vinification process,” said Mr. Salley. “I had no idea.”
