“But in our best interest, We have to value our health above all these other things, and make eating healthy a priority in terms of how we spend the resources we have. Makes no sense to be fronting like a rich person on the outside ,but in reality, in poor health on the inside, right? But it’s easy for any of us to make excuses without looking at at a budget, so that’s where budgeting comes in handy.”

Stic of Dead Prez, in an article titled “7 Ways to Eat Good on a Hood Budget.” Some of Stic’s tip include cooking in large batches and storing for later and buying food that’s in season. For all of Stic’s tips, visit Planet Based on a Budget.

Meatless Mouthful–Morrissey Walked Out On Meat Eating Date

Written by Vegetarian Star on Wednesday, October 30th, 2013 in Food & Drink, Male Singers, Meatless Mouthful.

Morrissey

“As his food order arrives I stare intently at what appears to be a sloppy dish of dog food on his plate. … I therefore automatically stand up and walk out of the restaurant. Suddenly you come to a certain situation and you are unable to live with it, and the only protest you can make on behalf of the butchered animal is to depart the scene.”

Morrissey, from his latest autobiography about his life, music and love for animals. He and his date eventually reunited and reportedly stayed together for at least two years so the singer probably gained plenty of experience teaching the virtues of animal rights and plant-based eating.

“I did a lot of research, read up on a lot of other athletes and people around the world who live like that, trying to learn from other people’s stories. It’s made it exciting, reading about other people and how they’ve gone about it, the benefits they’ve got, how it’s helped them and telling people my story now.”

“You can use meat to season rather than being a big hunk of protein in the middle of the plate. But if you have a hard time breaking out of that, then I would start by just designating certain meals as meatless. Mark Bittman does a beautiful job of this philosophy with his Eat Vegan Before 6:00. Certainly the Meatless Monday campaign is a good way to think about it.”

Joe Yonan, food critic and editor for the Washington Post, with his advice on going vegetarians or flexitarian. You can read more about Yonan’s journey to a plant-based diet in his interview with the Humane Society’s November/December 2013 issue of All Animals magazine.

“I ate really well and I’m vegan. I breastfeed, so everyday I got more and more back to my prebaby shape, but knowing I was going to be filming [Wiches of East End] in six weeks was a nice little reminder.”

“Treating other sensitive, intelligent beings like disposable laboratory equipment is wrong, and—although I was a business and music major at CU-Boulder—I know that there must be better ways to teach undergraduates than by having them needlessly torment, maim, and kill hundreds of animals.”

Brandon Barnes, drummer for Rise Against, in a letter to officials at the University of Colorado at Boulder on their current policies on animal testing and experimentation. In the letter, Barnes invites the university to explore more humane methods of research, and mentions that his alma mater’s Denver location already has a policy in place to not test on live animals.

“It’s a luxury Vegan line that I started and it’s available on my website and fingertipfetish.com. The first collection is called “Made in NYC” and all the polishes are based off of different things in New York City. There’s “Queens Rope Chain” which is gold, there’s “Metro-Metallic” which is silver like the trains, “Hail a Cab” is yellow, “Lady Liberty” is like a mint green, “BX Bomber” is Yankee blue, we have black for the Nets which called “BK We Go Hard,” “El Barrio” is red for all my Latinas, and we have “Trendy Soho” which is a hot pink. So it’s all the places in New York City, very New York themed and that’s who I am. I was made in NYC and the first collection is called “Made in NYC.”

Adrienne Bailon, in an interview about the new things in her life, including her latest film, I’m in Love with a Church Girl, where she easily snags the award for best looking cruelty-free nails.
