Jason Mraz - Gratitude Cafe U.S. Summer Tour 2009

Jason Mraz took a moment to Tweet in agreement with the readers of YELP, a website with restaurant reviews.

“stoked that www.cafeflourish.com won #1 vegan restaurant LA on YELP. It’s so good. I would have voted for them too.”

Someone at Cafe Flourish is all about the love, cause the menu is nothing but hookin’ up.

Love Bites, Love Salads, Sandwiches that Love You, Big Love Bites and Be-Love Corn Crusted Pizzas make up the main menu sections.

Our favorite is the “Snuggle Fest”-Soy hot dogs wrapped in a single “blanket” with ketchup, Dijon, “mayo” & sweet pickle relish with a side Caesar salad.

Better lovin’ requires you get in touch with your spiritual side.

The “Amen for Almond Hummus” is hummus topped with a chunky olive tapenade with sun-dried tomato flax crackers for scooping.

The Cinema Society & Hugo Boss Screening of Inglourious Basterds - Arrivals

Poetry is a beautiful gift to give someone for a birthday or anniversary.

Poetry about tacos…strange, but still beautiful.

Today is Moby‘s birthday, and he took to his journal to brag about what he received for his 44th, which included a vegan cassoulet (something normally made from sausages and pig fat) and a poem about tacos.

“everyone should receive a poem about tacos on their birthday. but then taco poems might not be so unique. and, for the record again, the poem was about literal tacos involving taco shells, beans, lettuce, hot sauce, and possibly seitan (wheat gluten, not the flesh of the devil).”

Vegan Cassoulet sounds savory-navy beans in a broth of mushrooms with added seasonings of parsley, rosemary and thyme, among others.

Check out the recipe we found for Vegan Cassoulet, after the jump.

The Smiths have a slim chance of getting back together, but Johnny Marr and Morrissey were great then and now.

Both vegetarians, Johnny was labeled the “bad boy” during the band’s stint, while Morrissey was the focused dude who never brought a groupie to his hotel room.

They complimented each other beautifully during the song Meat Is Murder.

So between the two former Smiths members, who would you rather…

Jason Mraz Assistant Shuns Vegan Food, Jason Gets Nude (Video)

Written by Vegetarian Star on Tuesday, September 8th, 2009 in Humor, Male Musicians, Male Singers, Videos.

Raw food vegan Jason Mraz has recorded a series of videos helping to promote his Gratitude Cafe tour.

In this clip, Jason introduces us to his assistant who helps prepare some some of the delicious vegan foods Jason eat regularly.

“People have this notion that if it’s healthy, then it must taste bad,” Jason said.

“Not true,” says the assistant.

Hilarity follows when Jason leaves the room and the assistant is seen devouring what looks to be a cheeseburger.

Be sure to watch the clip below to learn where Jason gets his inspiration for songs, including in hotel rooms.

You’ll see an almost NSFW nude Jason!

You know that Pat Thetic of Anti-Flag really digs his vegan cookies.

He likes them so much, when asked what his favorite food was, he answered, “My favorite vegan dish? Vegan chocolate chip cookies! I just had about 10 of them in the bus.”

We’re wondering if this was #1 or #9 of his cookie meal.

One thing’s for sure, after this pic was snapped, that cookie didn’t stick around long!

If you’re in need of a vegan cookie fix, here’s the recipe hookup at vegetarian.about.com, with more than a dozen of different types of cookies to choose from.

Our vote for most interesting sounding vegan cookie: Greek Sesame Brandy Cookies!

Moby performs at the Paleo Festival in Nyon

“Well… not to tell my own environmental credentials… but I don’t know how I could live a more green life. I don’t drive a car, I take public transportation, I am a vegan, I try whenever possible to eat locally organically-grown produce. I live in an apartment building, which is so much more environmentally responsible than living in a house. I try very hard to be as environmentally responsible as possible.”

“But the only way that environmentally responsible actions have any sort of like meaningful impact is the cumulative aspect of it. Me being environmentally responsible means nothing if I am the only one doing it. Me being environmentally responsible is very very meaningful if a hundred million people are doing it. So I will never brag about my environmental credentials, because I am just one person. If I can get a hundred million people to do similar things, then I can say that I have been a good force for change.”

Aerosmith Joe Perry: Hunter Out Of Touch With Reality

Written by Vegetarian Star on Friday, September 4th, 2009 in Male Musicians, Male Singers, Not So Vegetarian.

24th Annual Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame Induction Ceremony - Press Room

Aerosmith‘s guitarist and vocalist Joe Perry thinks he’s quite the conservationist, according to an interview with Outdoor Living magazine.

Perry was quoted as saying:

“I don’t shoot anything that I don’t eat. Hunters are conservationists and their heads are in the right place. … (Hunting) really gives you a great opportunity to keep in touch with reality.”

Oh, Joe. How out of touch with reality you are!

Granted, hunting your food is less taxing on the environment than raising cattle which wastes precious resources of water and land that could be put to better use growing crops.

But Joe, unless you wear a loincloth (hubba, hubba? eh…maybe not so much), these aren’t the days where man (or a beefy Xena Warrior Princess type woman) chases after the beast before dinner time.

Try hunting down some vital wheat gluten flour at the grocery and whipping up a “taste like meat” seitan dish.

Put the rifle down, Joe.

Keeping the loincloth on is totally optional.
