If you’re hosting a political party tomorrow to root for your favorite candidate, why not serve this pickled okra, created by a former First Lady, to entertain your guests.

Lady Bird Johnson was the wife of former president Lyndon B. Johnson, and like many first ladies, left a legacy of her own instead of standing in her husband’s shadow.

An environmentalist, she was active in several beautification and preservation projects in the D.C. area, including planing tulips and daffodils that are still seen at the nation’s capitol, campaigning for the Highway Beautification Act of 1965 and pushing for hiking and biking trails.

Meet 107-year old Karam and his 100-year old wife Katari Chand.

They are listed in the Guinness Book of World Records as being married for 87 years, the longest any couple has been wed.

Together they have 8 children and 28 grandchildren and attribute both a long, happy marriage and a long life to a vegetarian diet.

Hillary Clinton celebrated her 65th birthday with Bill and daughter Chelsea at the lavish Mayflower Inn in Washington, Connecticut.

The family, which included Chelsea’s husband, reportedly dined on a vegan, gluten-free cake during the occasion.

It’s not known if Hillary has taken the plunge and gone vegan like daughter Chelsea and husband Bill, but she does appear to frequently dine on plant-based food.
