Kelis MTV Video About Fur Hat And Where To Get Your Fake One

Written by Vegetarian Star on Saturday, May 15th, 2010 in Fashion, Female Singers, Fur, Videos.

Kelis sounds off on her PETA feud about that famous fur hat in this MTV video.

She says she thinks it was strange she got a letter from them, considering she’s worn “way more” fur than what she was wearing when the controversy ignited.

Kelis justifies her fashion choice with the fact the weather was “freezing” and she loves the hat.

Right.

Perfectly good excuses to buy something killed for the sake of vanity purposes.

Avoid the Kelis fur pas and opt for a faux fur hat instead.

Watch for Kelis’ excuses around minute 4:00.

Kesha has donated 1,000 pounds of dog and cat food to the Nashville Metro Animal Shelter to help the overflow of animals that were relinquished or abandoned in the wake of the floods in the area.

“The pets were left alone [in flooded homes],” Kesha told People Pets. “A lot of them unfortunately died, but a lot of them were left stranded without food.”

The TiK ToK singer grew up in the city and is also a mother to several dogs rescued from places like Mexico and Honduras.

“I was wheeling massive amounts of dog food and I was with my mom and we both got a little emotional,” she added. “Sometimes animals get left behind when people are going through tragedy.”

She is also holding a benefit concert to help.

Many people don’t have a disaster plan for themselves, let alone their pets.

Along with a first aid kit for humans, The Humane Society of the United States suggests you construct a disaster kit for your pet, which should at least the following:

  • Food and water for at least five days for each pet
  • Medications and medical records stored in a waterproof container and a first aid kit
  • Cat litter box, litter, garbage bags to collect all pets’ waste, and litter scoop
  • Sturdy leashes, harnesses, and carriers to transport pets safely
  • Current photos and descriptions of  pets
  • Pet beds and toys
  • Information about your pets-feeding schedules, etc.

"I Like Food, Food Tastes Good"

I Like Food, Food Taste Good is a collection of recipes from bands that features an entire chapter on vegetarian main courses.

In fact, from glancing at the table of contents, it looks like meatless recipes make up about a 1/4 of the book.

The Night Before Mac-and-Cheese, Tofu Pot Pie, Semi Raw Everyday Pasta, The Karate Kid and Uncle Kyle’s Avocado Tacos all sound tasty with an interesting story.

Death Cab For Cutie‘s Veggie Sausage with Peanut Butter sandwich is included in the mix.

Vegetarian music enthusiasts, this is something you’ll want to add to your collection.

Kelis Ready For Round Two Fur Fight With PETA

Written by Vegetarian Star on Friday, May 7th, 2010 in Female Singers, Fur.

Kelis Performs At Santos Party House

Kelis fired up the fur activists months ago when she replied to PETA’s criticism for wearing a fur hat.

Now she’s back and looking for more publicity she doesn’t deserve.

According to Contact Music, in an interview with NME, when asked if she was “trying to wind them up,” in her original response to them, the singer replied, “Well yeah! I mean, firstly, it’s just far too easy to p**s them off. I mean, give me a break. Get your panties out of a bunch, just relax. I mean seriously? I believe in live and let live, but I feel there are far more important issues with natural disasters and poverty and plague. I’m sorry if a mink is last on my list.”

According to Mercy For Animals, about 26 million mink are killed each year for their fur.

Mink fur farms keep the animals in cages so small, the resulting stress causes neurotic behavior, such as pacing back and forth and they often develop stomach ulcers and enlarged adrenal glands–another consequence of stress.

Kelis doesn’t care about this?

Ah, why are we still even talking about her?

Everybody knows it’s Pamela Anderson‘s vegan milkshake that brings all the boys the yard.

Orianthi To Host YouTube Vegan Cooking Show?

Written by Vegetarian Star on Friday, April 30th, 2010 in Female Musicians, Female Singers, Food & Drink.

Orianthi Performs a Free Show at the Hard Rock Cafe at Universal CityWalk

Could an online cooking show be the next step in guitar guru Orianthi‘s next career?

The musician who is supporting John Mayer on his Australian tour told 9 News she could incorporate unplugged tunes with vegan cookies.

“I was sort of thinking about doing some mini cooking things on YouTube – like a musical cooking thing,” Orianthi said.

“I’d cook and then as I’m waiting for it to bake in the oven I’d play a few songs and then I’ll go back and check on it.”

“(If it’s) not quite ready yet, I’d play another song.”

Music and good food usually keeps a crowd together longer, so marketing wise, she’s not too far off from a great idea.

She’ll need to have the 1-800 number frequently displayed throughout the segment, so viewers can order the already made varieties.

“I bring cookies and vegan cupcakes to rehearsals … I should probably sell my cookies at the merch (merchandise) booth.”
