Cincinnati Bengals wide receiver Chad Ochocinco tackled the serious subject of fur in this latest ad for PETA, one of the animal right’s organization’s “Ink Not Mink,” PSAs.

Like many people in the dark about the use of animals for clothing or food, Ochocinco painfully learned fur coats really are made from something that once breathed life. “To tell you the truth, when I was younger, I thought it was really all fake,” Ochocinco says in an interview, which can be viewed below.

Right along with fur, the leather industry makes a huge chunk of the portion of animals used for fashion.

How refreshing it is to know that Wilson, one of the makers of footballs, make synthetic leather footballs for the compassionate NFL fan.

Michael Vick Says God Uses Him To Make A Difference

Written by Vegetarian Star on Thursday, November 25th, 2010 in Animal Issues, Athletes-Games-Sports.

Michael Vick

Insert joke or snide remark here, but Michael Vick says he believes his activities with dog fighting now enables God to use him as an agent of change. Or something grandiose like that.

“I think I’m being used by God,” Vick said, according to the LA Times. “because all the laws have changed since my incident.”

In fairness to the truthfulness of Vick’s statement, laws have changed since he was charged, convicted and spent time behind bars for his involvement with Bad Newz Kennels.

The Humane Society of the United States writes on its website:

“In the last two years, we’ve upgraded 26 laws (state and federal) on animal fighting. The HSUS has trained more than 1,000 law enforcement officers on investigating animal fighting and paid out 50 rewards for tips leading to arrests in animal fighting cases. We have worked with law enforcement on more than 200 raids on animal fighting operations.”

Taryn Terrell

Two worlds are noticeably missing Taryn Terrell.

Ex Diva Tiffany has dropped being a vegan like the WWE (World Wrestling Entertainment) cut her from its roster of female wrestlers.

Yes, despite something she worked for three and a half years to accomplish and despite other athletes are thriving on plants, Tiffany felt she had to at least go back to eating organic meat.

You know the story. Blah, blah, something about protein.

Listen to the excuses in an exclusive interview at Diva Dirt.

Mike Tyson

Mike Tyson has announced he’s interested in starting a brand of kosher foods.

According to the New York Post, Tyson has been in talks with Moshe Malamud of the Franklin Mint about his business plans. The two met at Malamud’s favorite kosher eatery, Solo, on New York’s Madison Avenue, while Tyson dined on mushroom soup and mixed vegetables. A representative for Solo said the two discussed the concept and a potential name, but nothing is finalized.

Tyson has been making headlines in the news for his switch to a completely vegan diet. Is it possible for him to combine his two interests in one eatery? Of course! At chabad.org, Rabbi Eliezer Posner writes, “A vegan restaurant would not have a hard time getting kosher certification…It is certainly much easier for a vegan eatery to receive and maintain kosher certification. If your neighborhood has a kosher consumer base, perhaps ask the restaurant management to consider this not-so-difficult option which could increase its clientele.”
