The American Humane Association is able to certify that Tai, the elephant star in the Robert Pattinson and Reese Witherspoon film Water For Elephants, was not harmed during the movie.

But animal rights group Animal Defenders International says it has undercover video footage showing Tai and several other elephants suffering at the hands of trainers employed by the company that provides animals to film sets, Have Trunk Will Travel.

Florida Bill Banning Photographing Factory Farms Dies

Industrial-Chicken-Coop

In what will hopefully set a precedent to what will take place in states with similar pending legislation, a bill that would criminalize undercover investigators who obtain photographic evidence of animal cruelty on farms was not passed before the Florida legislative session ended.

Dubbed “gag-ag” bills, these attempts to silence what goes on in farms across the U.S. could cost human lives in addition to allowing animals to continue to be harmed.

Mike Ness Social Destruction PETA

Social Distortion’s Mike Ness once said in an interview there were so many parts of him other than his music side people weren’t familiar with, including his spiritualism and vegetarianism. Ness just got more public with one of those sides in a new pro-vegetarian ad for Peta2.

Why Pippa Black Of “Outsourced” Went Vegetarian

Written by Vegetarian Star on Tuesday, May 10th, 2011 in Actresses, Animal Issues, Food & Drink.

Pippa Black

Australian actress Pippa Black has been involved with several vegetarian causes. The Outsourced star was the voice behind a character in Tegan the Vegan, an animated short film about a girl teased for her diet choice. She’s also recorded a PSA for PETA protesting factory farms.

Black was only six years old when she learned the family’s pork chops were the only item on the plate that didn’t grow from a tree or out of the ground.

Take Time To Realize…puppies around the country really need  your help.

The Internet’s infamous nasty gossip blogger Perez Hilton is taking time off from his usual cattiness to say some really good things about what citizens in the U.S., especially those residing in states like Hilton’s birthplace in Florida, can do to help stop laws from passing that would make it illegal to film factory farm abuse while undercover.

Lawmakers in states like these have been influenced by officials in agriculture that are getting scared of what videos like the ones PETA and Mercy for Animals have routinely used to bring charges of animal cruelty against farm workers who blatantly violate animal welfare laws.

“Whether you’re a meat eater or a vegan, you can stand behind the humane treatment of animals in the meat trade,” Hilton says in the video. “There are now bills pending in several states–including Senate bill 1246 in my homestate of Florida, that would criminalize the filming of animals on factory farms. What are they trying to hide? Do these farms house famous animals like Miss Piggy and Babe and these laws just seek to protect them from the paparazzi?”

Elisabetta Canalis PETA Photo Shoot Sneak Peek (Video)

Written by Vegetarian Star on Thursday, May 5th, 2011 in Actresses, Animal Issues, Videos.

Elisabetta Canalis‘ official anti-fur ad for PETA will launch this fall, but the animal rights group was kind enough to post this sneak peek video on its blog.

Canalis is seen baring all (so this may be a little NSFW-ish) when one of her adopted dogs, a miniature pincher, joins the scene. Her dogs may be the luckiest in the world, as Canalis told Cosmopolitan magazine she doesn’t plan on having any children and will instead devote “motherhood” time to her four-legged babies. “My maternal desires are fully satisfied with my dogs,” Canalis said.

Elisabetta Canalis says the best time to get naked is in front of the camera for animal rights.

We can’t agree, and when millions of men see the final product of the ad shoot, they’ll probably agree too.

The girlfriend of actor George Clooney is seen in a few sneak peek photos of her anti-fur advertisement for PETA, where she is posing in front of a blue background wearing nothing more than compassion.
