Bob Barker–PETA Most Effective, Productive Animal Group (Video)

Written by Vegetarian Star on Monday, March 15th, 2010 in Animal Issues, Videos.

Last week, Bob Barker cut the red ribbon at the ceremony to celebrate PETA establishing their Los Angeles location.

Barker donated $2.5 million to help get the building started, and PETA is looking for a few more (million) dollars to create the best environment for their California headquarters.

“I think PETA is the most effective and most productive of all animal rights or animal welfare groups in the world. And no job is too small or too big.”

Sounds like Barker helped make an enormous task more manageable.

Best of luck to PETA in their new home!

Madonna Performs At Paris Bercy

Life and Style hears that Madonna is a fan of BabyCakes bakery.

The magazine recently featured an article, Cupcakes Stars Love, and listed the Material Girl as liking the vanilla cupcake with lemon frosting.

Wonder if Madonna requested bundles of these desserts to make her Sticky and Sweet tour even sweeter.

Stella McCartney, Fashion Industry Seeking Ethical Education

Written by Vegetarian Star on Monday, March 15th, 2010 in Fashion.

A Single Man - UK Premiere - Inside Arrivals

Stella McCartney thinks the fashion world is changing with the times.

Contact Music hints that there’s a demand for more ethical clothing and that other designers are catching onto what Stella discovered long ago–cruelty never looks cute.

“Stella McCartney thinks the fashion world is finally embracing ethical practices. The designer – who is a strict vegetarian and animal rights campaigner – has always used responsible production for her creations and now says everyone else is starting to follow suit.”

Stella said she hopes other designers are catching up and that she is constantly “learning all the time.”

One such example in Stella’s cruelty-free education is learning to design a shoe without leather that people (at least some people) can afford.

Stella had once said, “Our shoes are 70 percent more expensive to make because we don’t use conventional methods. When you’re not working with leather, you really have to think outside the box.”

What lessons will Stella take with her to create next season’s fashions?

Eva Longoria Soy Butter Substitution

The Noble Gift Gala - Arrivals

Eva Longoria loves to cook for both herself and hubby Tony Parker and when it comes to finding substitutions for traditional ingredients used in either Mexican or French cuisine, Longoria is never out of options.

“There’s always a healthier way to present food without compromising the taste,” Longoria said, according to Energy Times.

Although some of her favorite recipes might look unhealthy at first, a few tweaks here and there can cut harmful things like saturated fat and cholesterol, while maintaining taste.

“There are a lot of oils and lard and butters, and there’s so much that you can substitute that with.”

Longoria uses soy butter in the kitchen and also prefers heart healthy olive oil.

She once spent two years as a full time vegetarian to “cleanse her system.”

Knowing how good soy butter taste on vegetables, bread or any other item that calls for real butter, you’d think it’d make her go back.
