Ireland has banned fur farms and as we promised you earlier, Irish model Suzanne McCabe has unveiled an anti-fur ad with PETA.

Posing for both PETA UK and the Animal Rights Action Network (ARAN), Suzanne reminds everyone of the conditions animals on factory farms endure, such as cramped cages and electrocution.

Martha Stewart Vegetarian Thanksgiving (Recipe)

Ciroc Vodka Presents Sean "Diddy" Combs' Birthday Celebration

Martha Stewart recently featured a vegetarian Thanksgiving episode on her cooking show.

In case you didn’t know, Martha’s daughter, Alexis , has been a longtime veg and activist.

Growing up, Martha and her family raised their own livestock and after Alexis realized the animals on the farm were the same ones on her plate, she decided to veg out.

Could Martha have spent her time crafting these dishes to please Alexis while she was growing up?

Martha’s “Hearty Vegetarian Thanksgiving” menu can be found on her website and features delish sounding recipes like Celery Root, Persimmon, and Swiss Chard “Stuffing”, Vegetarian Mushroom Gravy, and a vegetarian “loaf” featuring beans and nuts.

Email these to the chef in charge of Thanksgiving dinner with your crowd this year and ensure no more “vegetarian” stuffing with chicken broth when you sit down at the table.

Saturday Night Live featured a hilarious clip mocking Jack Johnson, Jason Mraz and Dave Matthews.

“Jason” walks in and “Jack” says “vegan cookies” and asks Jason what he’s been up to.

“Oh, the usual,” Jason says.

“Maintaining my avocado farm,” he added.

Jason’s recipe for chocomole containing chocolate, agave syrup and avocado might be even better than vegan cookies.

Try Jason’s chocomole after watching the clip!

Morrissey Insulted By Cursing Hamburger (Video)

Written by Vegetarian Star on Friday, November 20th, 2009 in Food & Drink, Male Singers, Videos.

Morrissey was recently in Hamburg, Germany when he made a joke during his performance that the residents should be called “Hamburgists” instead of “Hamburgers.”

Morrissey’s so into veg, he just can’t have his fans being called hamburgers, ya know?

Someone in the audience didn’t object to being a Hamburger and yelled, “F*ck you,” to Moz.

Morrissey then replied, “Go. We don’t need you, we don’t need you. You can leave, and you can f*ck yourself.”

The man was then reportedly escorted out the venue.

Oh, yeah.

Moz will kick you off the team for eating meat.

And will kick you out the venue if you like being called a burger.

Vanessa Lengies Takes Pad Thai For Camping (Recipe)

TV Guide Magazine's Hot List Party 2009

Hawthorne star Vanessa Lengies recently returned from a camping trip where she brought along dried red beans and rice and Pad Thai.

“You boil water and heat it up, and it seals back up so when you’re done you put your trash inside,” Lengies told mnn.com.

Veg food has come a long way and re-packaged is great, but nothing beats straight from the skillet, warmed food made from fresh produce and spices.

Pad Thai is often made with egg, but vegans can omit this ingredient and everyone can do without the fish sauce used in traditional recipes.

Here’s a pad thai recipe we found from about.com that satisfies the veggies, the vegans and everyone in between.

Elizabeth Kucinich, John Salley Rally For Veg School Lunches

Dennis Kucinich & MPs Mark The 4th Anniversary Of Iraq War

Elizabeth Kucinich and politician husband Dennis Kucinich joined forces with ex NBA basketball player John Salley and members of the Physicians Committee For Responsible Medicine on Capitol Hill recently to  promote vegetarian school lunches to the Child Nutrition Act that is set for re-authorization this year.

Elizabeth is totally with Salley when it comes to veg school lunches, but don’t ask her to cheer for his former team.

“The only thing I have difficulty with is that you played wth the Detroit Pistons,” Elizabeth said. “As a Cavaliers fan, I take that personally.”

It’s okay, Liz. You can work it out over a tempeh sandwich.

Salley told students to lay off the meat and cheese in order to “stay healthy fit and ready to learn.”

Democratic representative Jared Solis noted that many school lunches contain high levels and fat and low levels and fiber and proposed a bill that would increase federal subsidies for non dairy vegetarian school lunches by 20% and permit non dairy beverages such as rice and soy milk to satisfy the milk requirement as long as they contain between 5 and 8 grams of protein.

“Because healthy habits start early in life, it is important for children to eat healthful foods at school,” Polis said.

“Making sure sure students across country have vegetarian and vegan options is a step in the right direction for improving the health of our next generation.

Amen.

And no more mystery meat.
