Summer Rayne Oakes Fronts Payless Zoe & Zac Sustainable Shoes

Written by Vegetarian Star on Monday, April 20th, 2009 in Environment-Eco-Green, Fashion, Models.

In the old days if you were on a budget and looking for animal-free footwear, Payless ShoeSource was your one stop hub. Only every shoe there was made from fibers drenched in toxic chemicals that made your feet turn colors on a hot summer day.

That’s all changed now. Payless launched their Zoe & Zac collection last week and model and green activist Summer Rayne Oakes is the face of sustainable, green footwear.

Every pair in the women and girls collection is under $30.

If that doesn’t get you salivating, here’s some of the green features the shoes have to offer: organic cotton, faux suede and faux leather materials manufactured with reduced heavy metals, recycled rubber and elastic made from recycled plastic bottles, and water based and non-toxic glues.

Plus, any Zoe & Zac shoe purchased donates $1 to the Nature Conservancy’s Plant a Billion campaign. As in, a billion, beautiful, CO2 reducing trees.

What are you waiting for? Head to the nearest Payless near you now!

The Celebrity Apprentice candidates are dropping faster than the real hairs on Donald Trump’s head did before he put whatever creature of a hairpiece is currently living there now.

Heisman Trophy winner and former running back Herschel Walker is the latest to get the ax.

The apprentices were given the task of creating a healthy frozen meal for a large company which produces frozen entrees. Herschel led his team with the idea of soy ginger chicken. But dude should never have advocated the chicken dish, given the fact that he’s vegetarian. And that’s probably why he paid the price.

The meal wasn’t exactly the most palatable. Anna Pickard at the Guardian, had a funny way of describing the ordeal:

“The orange helps a lot, and it’s presented: Asian Orange Chicken, quickly renamed to Orange Asian-style chicken when someone notices it’s not ACTUALLY Asian and has never had an Asian person remotely near it: and that something that sounds like ‘Agent Orange Chicken’ might not be a great selling point.”

Yes, Agent Orange, DNA mutating chicken is definitely bad for business.

Unfortunately, Trump was into turkey balls that night and no amount of Agent Orange could mutate him into saving Herschel.

Said Trump, “I love you. I love you Herschel. I love you. I’m not a gay man, but I love you. And you’re fired.”

When Herschel admitted he wasn’t a meat eater, Donald asked why he chose to be in charge of it. It was because that dreadful dog eating Joan Rivers pushed for it.

Pamela Anderson Wants Veggie Bikini Cooking Show On Beach

Vivienne Westwood Red Label - LFW Spring Summer 2009 - Runway

Pamela Anderson wants to return to her Baywatch days, only this time combining thongs with tofu.

The actress wrote on her blog that she is interested in doing a vegan cooking show. But she wants to host it in a bikini.

“I’ve been cooking Vegan every day (myself) – experimenting – trying out new things – I still think I should have my own sexy/fun Vegan-cooking show?- maybe one day.”

“Could always have Girls in bikinis cooking veggies on the beach. I keep getting crazy offers to go back on TV – I don’t think I have the passion anymore for it. What is TV these days anyway? Sensory overload – too busy living the dream? (unless I could do the veggie bikini BBQ show) – I just don’t think I could pull it off – no studio for me (sic).”

Could this be the next Food Network hit?

Heather Mills’ Veggie Shrimp Turned Boyfriend Jamie Walker Vegan

Heather Mills Speaks At Viva! The Incredible Veggie Show
Guess Elsa Maneiro didn’t know what she was talking about when she predicted Heather Mills’ boyfriend,  Jamie Walker, would never go vegan.

Walker is reportedly vegan, thanks to Heather trying out her magical food goodies on him, including a vegan shrimp she claims to have developed.

“You can’t even snog a meat eater,” Mills said, according to splashnewsonline.celebuzz.com.

“It took three months to get my boyfriend vegan. He’s a big, muscly guy so it’s quite easy to convert people.”

Heather has recently launched her vegan food range, Mighty Meatless Meals in Minutes, so it’s safe to assume Walker was a guinea pig in developing the entrees.

Ah, she makes it sound so easy. Have you tried to convert your significant other or any other close friend or relative to vegetarianism or veganism? What was the result?

Erin McKenna whips up delicious vegan, gluten-free, and sugar free cupcakes and other baked goodies at her Baby Cakes bakery in New York city. Her establishment has been praised by several celebrities, including Lake Bell, Natalie Portman, Pamela Anderson, and Zoey Deschanel

Apparently the cupcakes aren’t the only reason the customers come in as the frosting is like tequila at happy hour.

According to a recent interview with the Telegraph, “The frosting is so addictive that it has developed a fan base all of its own. Some people just come in for a $1.50 frosting shot that they can knock back like a tequila or a 12oz take-out tub to devour at home.”

What exactly is this inebriating frosting made of?

“Soy milk, soy powder, coconut flour, coconut oil and agave, this is naturally coloured (with a dash of turmeric to make yellow, blueberry juice to make purple, raspberry or beetroot to make pink, and chlorophyll to make green.”

Erin’s cookbook is scheduled to debut next month so you can bootleg your own vegan frosting shots.
