Pamela Anderson On Sarah Palin: “She Can Suck It.”

Written by Vegetarian Star on Friday, September 12th, 2008 in Actresses, Animal Issues, Politicians.

We bet you 100 bucks we know who Pamela Anderson is voting for this November. Or at least who she’s not voting for.

Anderson was in Toronto speaking out against animal abuse in Hollywood when she was asked what she thought of Republican Vice Presidential Candidate Sarah Palin. The reporter mentioned the Newsweek article which pictured a bear hide in Palin’s home office. Palin has also made it known she is an avid hunter.

“I can’t stand her,” Anderson said. “She can suck it!”

Ah, good old vegetarian Pammy is back again, never failing to tell anyone who disagrees with her beliefs how she really feels. Fellow hollywood star Matt Damon has been a little more polite about it. He just thinks Palin’s absurd.

Actress Jorja Fox took a break from CSI: Crime Scene Investigation in 2007, but she’ll be back for a few special episodes this fall. (Pause for fans cheering and screaming.) A quote from the vegetarian of 20 years about vegetarianism and the environment at the Animal Acres Farm Sanctuary Gala:

“I’ve been a vegetarian for a very long time, and this place, I think, exemplifies so many ways the microcosm of the macrocosm of the microcosm. If you can spend a little time with these creatures, you can connect them again to animals that you love, which I think helps everybody remember the importance of treating them humanely and with dignity. These are, you know, the lucky animals that have fallen off the backs of trucks and stuff. If you want to help the environment, go vegetarian.”

Conor Oberst Makes Confessions Over Veggie Burger

Written by Vegetarian Star on Thursday, September 11th, 2008 in Male Musicians, Male Singers.

Moveon.org Vote For Change Concert

Conor Oberst has been a busy man, musically. Although he may be best known for his work with the group Bright Eyes, he’s also been involved with Desaparecidos, Norman Bailer, Commander Venus, Park Ave., and Conor Oberst and the Mystic Valley Band. He performed in his hometown of Omaha, Nebraska for an Obama rally earlier this year.

He’s been vegetarian, vegan, and even a pescetarian (vegetarian who eats fish) and was involved with PETA. Here’s a video, if you’re interested.

He sat down to talk to a journalist while grabbing a bite of a veggie burger and explained that while his songs have been called “confessional,” he tells not only his business but everybody else’s as well. Yikes! Remind us not to tell him anything too personal.

“I’ll always draw from my experiences because that’s the material that’s most readily available. But I don’t make any bones about drawing from other people’s experiences. Also, when I write a song, the pronoun is really not important. I’ll even forget sometimes and sing the wrong pronoun, whether it’s she or he or it or I or you. Because they’re all interchangeable. It’s what comes after that, the rest of the line – that’s where the truth is going to be.”

Diane Keaton Not Making Kids Go Vegetarian

Written by Vegetarian Star on Thursday, September 11th, 2008 in Actresses, Children, Not So Vegetarian.

ICP Presents The 24th Annual Infinity Awards - Inside

Award winning actress, director, and producer Diane Keaton made her film debut in the 70s as Kay Adams in The Godfather and she’s been making us laugh for decades with her roles in movies such as Father of The Bride, The First Wives Club, and Something’s Gotta Give. In the past 3 years, she’s also gotten on the blogging bandwagon and contributed to The Huffington Post.

Although she’s a a vegetarian, she’s not making her two children, Duke and Dexter, go that route.

“No, no. I’m not doing that to them,” she told Parade Magazine. “I’m sure, once they grow up, they’ll be going, “What an eccentric human being, this mother of ours.”

While we were hoping she’d keep it all in the family, who knows? Maybe they’ll take after mom once they become adults. It may be for the best. We already saw the tragedy of how Aisha Tyler rebelled when mom and dad packed her tofu for lunch.

Will Oprah Winfrey Get Naked?

Written by Vegetarian Star on Wednesday, September 10th, 2008 in Actresses, TV Hosts.

Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater's 50th Anniversary Opening Night

Some things are just too creepy. In an interview almost a year ago, Alicia Silverstone said she wanted to see Oprah naked…

But that’s not the creepy part, though, ha, ha. You see, Alicia was talking about her passion for vegetarianism and how she wanted to see such a famous and powerful person like Oprah go vegetarian because of the sheer influence the talk show diva has.

“I would love to see Oprah naked — that’s a goal for me,” she said. “It would be great if she became a vegetarian; she is a very powerful woman and would really get the message across.” Silverstone was referring to Oprah taking a stance on vegetarianism by posing nude for PETA, like herself and many other celebrities have done.

In case, you didn’t know, Oprah went vegan. But only for 21 days as part of a detox process. But she reported to have enjoyed both the experience and the food.

Now for the creepy part. How could Alicia Silverstone be so psychic? Oprah went vegan months after Silverstone made her statement. Are we in store for a nude Oprah soon?

It would be great if she returned to at least some form of vegetarianism again, or even vowed to reduce meat and made it one of her Oprah campaigns, along with designer lip gloss, book clubs, and dozens of other trends she starts and somehow makes millions of women (and men) follow. Is Oprah the next nude pin up for PETA posters? We’ll be on the lookout for more Alicia Silverstone predictions, as this girl seems to be getting all too good at them.

Tom Scholz And Boston Fuel Vegetarian Charities

Written by Vegetarian Star on Wednesday, September 10th, 2008 in Bands, Male Musicians, Male Singers.

Talk about shockers! Who would have guessed that Tom Scholz and his Boston band buddies were vegetarians? It really should come as no surprise though, as rockers like Rikki Rockett of Poison and Joan Jett are so public about their diet decisions. But Boston is one that has eluded us–until now.

Scholz got into vegness in the 70s after being introduced by former member Brand Delp, then Gary Pihl didn’t want to be left out either. Scholz has a charity foundation set up so he can get rid of all his millions he’s earned from awesome hits like  “More Than A Feeling,” and “Amanda.” Many of those charitable organizations include anti-cruelty and vegetarian ones.

“Primarily it was set up as a vehicle for me to give my money away,” said Scholz. “I don’t solicit donations for it. It has received some donations from some people who found out about it. Brad contributed a lot to it. The charitable foundation basically funds other charities that Brad and I were trying to support. They are mostly anti-cruelty and anti-suffering programs and vegetarian organizations trying to enlighten the public about vegetarian lifestyles and why they should consider it. Brad, Gary and I are longtime vegetarian. I think that is one of the things that sort of kept us in tune over the years.”

“Brad and I were very different people but that is one of the things that we had in common. I followed Brad after he got into it in the Seventies. Gary got into it in the Eighties after he met me. I think it was one of the sort of binding things that held us together.”

Rock on!
