More Sex Symbol Tips From Mallika Sherawat

Written by Vegetarian Star on Saturday, December 20th, 2008 in Actresses, Bollywood.

mallika-sherawatEarlier in the week, we told you how Bollywood actress Mallika Sherawat thinks being a sex symbol is hard work-no partying, early bedtime, and strict vegetarian diet.

She has revealed more on her diet and reasons for going vegetarian. Instead of cow’s milk, she gets dairy from soya, cashew, and almond milk.

“I have been strictly vegetarian ever since I can remember,” she said. “I am against the concept of killing an animal to eat it.”

She is also into natural foods and whole grain chapattis, a type of unleavened flat bread in India.

So what are you sex kitten wannabes waiting for? You should be rushing to the store for almond milk already.

Gwyneth Paltrow Has True Vegetarian Moment. Seriously.

Written by Vegetarian Star on Saturday, December 20th, 2008 in Actresses, Food & Drink.

Gwyneth Paltrow attends launch party for Spain..On The Road Again

Despite her recent transgressions against vegetarianism, actress Gwyneth Paltrow, who claims she is “pretty much vegetarian,” actually stood up in defense of both animals and soy milk. Yes, the crucified soy milk.

During a clip of “Spain…On The Road Again,” she’s sitting with Mario Batali and exclaims that Spanish soy milk is delicious.

Mario teases her about his, asking if he can get her some, “steamy, hot stinky soy milk,” and jokes that Spanish soy milk is good because they [the Spaniards] make “great soy sauce.”

Gwyneth tells Mario to shove it. Ouch!

She then chides him for eating lamb earlier, saying it’s such bad karma to eat baby animals (grown  male turkeys still fair game).

Mario’s argument that lots of “tiny soys,” gave up their life for her milk just isn’t as convincing a rebuttal.

Visit Eat Me Daily to view the video (it’s the one at the bottom of the page) as well as a clip showing Gwyneth cringing at the death of a lobster.

Will Smith New Movie Is Seven Pounds Of Vegetarian Goodies

Written by Vegetarian Star on Saturday, December 20th, 2008 in Actors, Actresses, Videos.

Will Smith and cast arrive at the premiere of Columbia Pictures' 'Seven Pounds'

Someone involved with the making of Seven Pounds must have a freezer stocked with Boca Burgers.

The movie starring Will Smith, about a man who dramatically changes the lives of seven people, has more vegetarian themes in 1 hour and 58 minutes than you’ll probably see at a granola bar serving hippie fest.

First there’s Ezra Turner, played by Woody Harrelson, who sells frozen steak over the phone, but doesn’t eat his own products. Wonder if any real life meat purveyors follow this rule as well?

Then there’s Rosario Dawson’s character, Emily Posa, who’s not only a vegetarian, but insists her dog be one as well.

Finally, there’s a scene where the word “vegan” is prominently displayed on a hospital chalkboard.

Mere coincidence? Subliminal veggie propaganda? Watch the video below for the scene where Emily explains to Will Smith’s character Ben Thomas her dog is vegetarian. If you can’t view the video, head over to Trailer Addict for other viewing options.

Oprah Winfrey Demands Obama Share Person Of The Year Love

Written by Vegetarian Star on Saturday, December 20th, 2008 in Actresses, TV Hosts.

Oprah Winfrey Joins Obama On Campaign Trail

Some have accused Oprah Winfrey of being an attention fiend.

And she does push herself in the spotlight frequently, from her support to certain political candidates to letting everyone know what book she’s cuddling up with instead of Stedman for the week. She has her face on the cover of every one of her magazines, for goodness sake.

But attention fiends can be good, especially if they’re garnishing it for the right reasons. And that’s exactly why the U.S. division of People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA) has chosen her as Person of the Year 2008.

She’s used her power to draw attention to a variety of animal abuse. After following a plea on a billboard in Chicago to do a show on puppy mills, she aired an episode that featured undercover footage of horrible conditions at one located in Pennsylvania. Her audience also got to see the torture that chickens, pigs, and veal calves endure in conventional factory farms.

Earlier this year in April, she dedicated an episode of her show to her late cocker spaniel.

Let’s not forget, she went vegan for 21 days and told the world about it!

Hats off to Oprah. Good thing Time Magazine’s Person of The Year,  Barack Obama, is a slender man. He definitely needs to make room for some other great people in the spotlight.
